THE CLASSIC MULLINS CONUNDRUM: Déjà vu for Shamrock as he opposes another Mullins hotpot in the opener at Fairyhouse.

We’ve been here before.

Thursday, to be precise, when I took on a Willie Mullins trained odds-on favourite – got it beat – but not by the horse I nominated.

I’m 1-0 down on the week and am pushing for the equaliser in the opener at Fairyhouse this afternoon – the Grade 2 Winning Fair Juvenile Hurdle.

The Mullins trained Dogora has the sexy 11 form figures and is 1.95 on BETDAQ but on bare form Stockton’s Wing, already proven at this level should have his beating and at 2.4 represents the bet.

Even allowing for expected improvement from Dogora, I still think he will be hard pressed to beat the tough Stocktons Wing who has run well on his last two starts including an excellent second here to the hugely progressive Our Conor.

Dogora has won both his starts but gave long odds on backers a scare last time out at Gowran Park when scrambling home by a head to beat Dalasiri.

The runner-up was then a well beaten 6th of 7 behind Our Conor in the Grade 1 Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown and it’s that formline that suggests Stocktons Wing will prove superior today.

Flip the trainers – and you flip the odds. In my book Stocktons Wing should be odds-on here.
