Tonight’s Copa del Rey final will feature fierce city rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid as both teams look to round off their campaigns with some silverware. This is the fifth time the clubs will have met at this stage of the competition with Atletico winning three of the previous four finals and only going down on penalties after the 1975 showpiece had finished goalless.
Both clubs arrive at the Bernabeu undefeated in this year’s tournament but Real have won their last ten straight games against their neighbours with their last defeat coming in the 1999/2000 campaign. That run stretches over 25 meetings. Atletico have also been beaten finalists in the Spanish Cup three times since their last triumph in 1996.
Jose Mourinho has already won this with Madrid in 2011 and he will be desperate to sign off his stay in the Spanish capital with another trophy. The La Liga runners-up have been in great form of late, winning eight of their last ten matches and they should be hard to beat later.
The 1.69 on BETDAQ may be seem a bit short but it’s hard to oppose a team coached by Mourinho in a final. The Portuguese has not gone a year without winning a trophy as a manager since 2002.
