CORK: Listed and Group race action on the Sunday Cork card. SHAMROCK previews both races which are expected to be run on soft ground.

A decent card at Cork on Sunday and I have bets in both the feature races:

3:45 Midsummer Sprint Stakes (Listed) (3yo+, Class 1, 5f, 7 runners)

It’s pretty hard to escape from the chances of Maarek here who is 1.53 on BETDAQ at the time of writing. The six-year-old should find this relatively easy given he won the Group 2 Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot last season which was also run on soft ground. He was fifth at York last time when it probably wasn’t soft enough – but conditions should be perfect today. If it rains more, have more on. It’s that simple.

4:20 Cork Racecourse Mallow Noblesse Stakes (Fillies’ Group 3) (3yo+, Class 1, 1m 4f, 9 runners)

English trained Cubanita looks the value option against the favourite Princess Highway. She is another who will benefit from testing conditions and has already proved herself in Listed company. She might well be good enough to cope with this step-up in class.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Maarek (3.45 Cork)
NEXT BEST: Cubanita (4.20 Cork)
