PREVIEW
With the Championship taking centre stage this weekend, the fixture computer has churned out a number of top matches to get the season off with a bang, not least this clash at St Mary’s.

Southampton and Leeds are itching for a return to the top flight and promotion is a realistic ambition for both of them, available at around 4.6 and 4.7 on Betdaq respectively.

The Saints ended their two-year spell in League One in May and they closed out the campaign in sensational form after ending with 13 wins in their last 15 games. That will stand Neil Adkins’ men in good stead as they look to make a quick impression in the second tier.

Lee Barnard, David Connolly and Rickie Lambert should be real assets for the forthcoming campaign and they can cause United all sorts of trouble. Simon Grayson must also do without two of his main front men, Luciano Becchio and Davide Somma, who are long term injury victims.

With home advantage and at odds-against Southampton definitely look the wise selection. They enjoyed a fine record on the South Coast last term, notching 16 wins and four draws from their 23 outings, and should be backed at 2.22. Leeds are offered at 3.6 and the draw is trading at 3.35 on the Daq.
