TWO RIGHT ROYAL WINNERS AT 14.0: Daqman landed a 14.0 BETDAQ-value winner for the second day running at Royal Ascot yesterday, when following Kiyoshi (WON 8-1 from 14.0), he named Lethal Force (WON 11-1 from 14.0).
DIAMOND FOLLOWS ASCOT GOLD: Daqman gave the Gold Cup winner, Estimate (WON 7-2 from 7.0), earlier in Ascot week, and yesterday Lethal Force was his first choice for the Diamond Jubilee.
1.50 Saint-Cloud The Lark swerved the fast ground at Royal Ascot and tries to uphold the Epsom Oaks form – she was third – here in unknown territory.
The best French form (the Saint-Alary) is represented by Ferevia but I took a punt (at 7.2 on BETDAQ this morning) on Pacific Rim, lightly raced so a potential improver, from a family of out-and-out stayers yet able to show speed enough to win at 12f.

However, Dunaden and Cirrus Des Aigles, who steps out of the shadow of Frankel, would be the first seven-year–olds to win this in over 50 years of records that I have unearthed. ‘Cirrus’ could need the race after a long holiday.
Novellist (Ryan Moore) was only fourth to the German Arc hero, Danedream, in the Group-1 Grosser Preis Von Baden last backend but had the subsequent (Group ) Ganay winner, Pastorius, just ahead of him in the frame and beat a German Derby winner last time out.
3.10 Pontefract Aquilonius returns to his winning distance for the first time since narrowly beaten in the Spring off an AW mark 11lb higher than turf, and 17.0 was the ‘wrong’ price on BETDAQ this morning.
Free-going Salutation also drops back to his winning trip but that win was on soft ground, and trainer Mark Johnston had a stinker at Ascot, with figures of 000000000040000430 (watch out for these losers at Goodwood!)
Yet a third horse is down in trip, and Gabrial The Great is also down in grade: he wouldn’t mind rain, too, but copes well enough with a sound surface.
Carthaginian’s maiden was won in slow time. The Azamour colt could come on a ‘ton’ but I’ll rely on ‘Gabrial’ with a tweek at Aquilonius.
3.40 Pontefract Every dog has his day and it might be the day for last year’s Derby runner-up Main Sequence but the tail-flasher has already dropped to Listed level before now – in May – in a small field, and was only third.
The entire Brown Panther had had a previous outing when he won this race last year, his only success since taking a Royal Ascot handicap two years ago.
I shall try a pound on Souviens Toi. The front two both like to be up with the pace and she might just be able to wait on them: 7.4 offers on BETDAQ are a shade generous in a 104% list in the orange.
4.10 Pontefract Cup Like Brown Panther, Orsippus also goes for a repeat, but last year’s win was on the soft and, again like Brown Panther, was his sole success since 2011.
Tartan Jura also performs best on slow ground but would have met Kazbow (nonner) on advantageous terms, suggesting he is well in here, but again the Johnston squad is firing blanks.
Eagle Rock has run some fair races but was a long way behind the old grey mare Cloudy Spirit (another nonner) at York’s Dante meeting in May, and I’ll bet they’re wishing they’d sidestepped Ascot yesterday for this.
