SHAMROCK: No Irish racing today so SHAMROCK looks back on Sunday’s action and ahead to Gowran Park on Tuesday.
There are more questions than answers I think is how the song goes ?
Certainly after this weekend’s results at the Curragh form book experts are still scratching their heads and coming to terms with some truly weird results.
Heaven knows what we can make of the Epsom Derby form and this years three-year-olds after the flops of the winner Ruler Of The World and Libertarian who were first and second at Epsom but 5th and 8th in the Irish Derby on Saturday. Yet to complex matters further Galileo Rock who was third at Epsom went one place better into second behind 6/1 winner Trading Leather.
Ruler Of The World will now be given a break before dropping back in trip in the autumn.
He said: “He got a little bit warm and maybe he was saying he’d maybe had enough – maybe I should have spotted it,” said O’Brien. He’ll have a little break now and come back in the autumn and possibly go back to a mile and a quarter.”
Meanwhile Ambivalent could go in search of further Group One honours in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks after her all-the-way win in the Pretty Polly Stakes yesterday.
Winning trainer Roger Varian said: “She’s fine this morning. She seems to have come out of the race well. Johnny gave her a brilliant ride. He’s a very good jockey, his confidence is high after Royal Ascot and he knows his way around the Curragh better than anyone, so it was great it all worked out so well.
At Gowran Park tomorrow Aidan O’Brien’s One True Love bids to make it 11th time lucky. Her form figures are now 0334422232. She has been beaten as short as 2/5. A lay again tomorrow ??? Find out in tomorrow’s column !!!
