PREVIEW
West Yorkshire pride is at stake when Leeds and Bradford meet on Tuesday night. Despite being separated by little more than ten miles, competitive fixtures between the sides are not very common, so it has been almost 15 years since the Bantams have enjoyed the bragging rights over their next door neighbours. And Betdaq users don’t appear to give Bradford much of a sniff of breaking that spell.
Peter Jackson’s men are very much the underdogs for this Carling Cup tie at 6.8 and Leeds clear favourites at 1.51.
Both teams come into this one on the back of opening day defeats, but a bet on Bradford would be a brave one with a huge gulf in class separating the hosts, who finished seventh in the Championship last term, from their visitors, who only managed to claim eighteenth spot in League Two.
The last time the clubs met in 2008 Leeds won 2-1 at home and Bradford were taught a footballing lesson on their prior visit to Elland Road when United secured a 6-1 triumph with the goals coming from Mark Viduka, Ian Harte, Eirik Bakke, Alan Smith, Harry Kewell and Lee Bowyer.
Those glamour names may be a thing of the past for Leeds, and we made a few quid opposing them at the weekend against Southampton, but Simon Grayson’s outfit should demonstrate their superiority and look good for the win here.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Leeds at around 1.51: 7 points
Sunday’s Return: -2
