SHAMROCK ON TUESDAY: No Irish racing today so Shamrock looks ahead to the PWC Champion Chase at Gowran Park on Saturday – Sizing Europe bids to win it for the third year in a row.
Unfortunately the run of winning naps ended at five in a row yesterday after a slightly disappointing run from John Constable in third.
Tuesday: NOBLE INN (NAP) WON 5/4
Wednesday: FORMAL BID (NAP) WON 6/4
Thursday: CASTLETOWN BRIDGE (NAP) WON 3/1
Friday: HE’S NO SAINT (NAP) WON 15/8
Saturday: NON RUNNER
Sunday: GEOFFREY CHAUCER (NAP) WON 4/7
There’s no Irish racing on Tuesday.
Sizing Europe is among the 11 entries at Gowran Park on Saturday as he bids to win the PWC Champion Chase for the third year in a row.
Henry de Bromhead’s decorated chaser scored four times last year and chased home the exceptional Sprinter Sacre in both the Queen Mother Champion Chase and at Punchestown.
Among his rivals for the Grade Two event over two and a half miles are the Gordon Elliott-trained Roi Du Mee, who was very disappointing in last year’s renewal but was placed cleverly to win six more times during the season.
Baily Green, the Arkle runner-up, and established chasers like Rubi Light, Realt Dubh and Quito De La Roque are likely to offer the strongest challenge.
Sumkindasuprstar, False Economy, Laganbank, Toner d’Oudairies and Tribes And Banners all have plenty to find on the formbook.
