LISTED RACE ACTION AT DUNDALK: SHAMROCK heads to the evening card on the all-weather at Dundalk in a bid to follow up a winning nap on Thursday.

Thankfully, the nap was on the right one of the three yesterday, Cailin Annamh (WON 8/11) who won for the fifth time in her last seven starts when staying on strongly to win the Grade Three Grabel Mares Hurdle.

The drop back in trip to two and a quarter miles appeared to have found her out with half a mile to run as Barry Geraghty was hard at work.

Little King Robin had seen off first Top Madam and then Harrington’s Takeyourcapoff, but Geraghty stuck to the rail and got a dream run up the inside, taking it up at the last before powering away to win by five lengths.

“She’s had a great time in the mares’ races and I must thank the pattern committee for putting on such a lovely program,” said winning trainer Jessica Harrington.

There’s a Listed race at Dundalk tonight – the Carlingford Stakes at 8.45pm.

The Aidan O’Brien trained Afonso De Sousa is the favourite. He was third in a Group 3 over course and distance behind back to form Parish Hall. However, splitting the pair was Manalapan who ran a cracker on his all-weather debut and was sent off at 40/1.

On that line of form Manalapan is equal to Afonso De Sousa yet twice the odds on BETDAQ.

In the absence of any obvious reason why that form should be reversed there’s only one way I can play the race.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Manalapan (8.45 Dundalk)
