It’s a cracking looking weekend of football with some Premier League fixtures mixed in with the FA Cup quarter-final ties. Sunday’s Premier League highlight sees Tottenham head off to Anfield having confirmed their dominance over Arsenal with a one-sided 2-1 win last Sunday.

Gareth Bale got the opener against the Gunners and then repeated the trick in Thursday’s Europa League tie in another top performance. He’s unstoppable at the moment and he’s going to give the Reds’ back four a torrid afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers’ plan continues to evolve as their excellent 5-0 victory over Wigan showed. Luis Suarez’s hat-trick at Wigan took his tally to 21 for the season, yet I’m still not convinced about the rest of his side. Watching Bale and Suarez on the same pitch is going to be something special as both make their cases for PFA Player of the Year.

It’s well known that the Reds have struggled against the league’s better sides and that’s exactly what Tottenham are. Spurs also have a decent record over Liverpool that has seen them win four of the last five meetings.

The atmosphere inside Anfield will be lively, but Spurs can silence the crowd with another win to bring them ever closer to a Champions League finish.

Over in the FA Cup I’m covering the tie between Everton and Wigan. I keep hearing people saying that this result is already decided, but I don’t think it’ll be as easy as most think. David Moyes has an impressive record in this competition and he’d love another crack at reaching the final this season.

Wigan were poor last weekend and I expect them to raise their game here. They convincingly beat Reading the game before and hammered Huddersfield in the previous round. It was level at the break when the sides last met at Goodison, so back the Draw/Everton double result at 4.7.

Sunday’s Manchester United and Chelsea FA Cup tie is the standout one of the quarter-finals. Sir Alex Ferguson was quite rightly fuming at the ludicrous decision to send off Nani on Tuesday night as United were on their way through against Real Madrid. I doubt that any United players will be holidaying in Turkey anytime soon.

It’s going to be fascinating to see how the league leaders react and I fancy Chelsea to force a replay. Rafa Benitez has one last chance to make his time in West London a slight success and he’s going to set up his side to attack United.

I can see both teams scoring and Chelsea earning a replay back in London.
