London Irish flanker Declan Danaher helped raise £556.50 for youth charity The Prince’s Trust last season thanks to the Aviva Premiership side’s betting partnership with BETDAQ.

The Exiles’ longest serving player reached the total thanks to a series of winning bets in his London Irish matchday tipping column, ‘Bet Dec’, for which BETDAQ provided a £25 stake at every home game at the Madejski Stadium.

Horse racing fan Danaher’s successful punts covered a range of sporting action, but his highlight came in January 2012 when Thierry Henry’s goal for Arsenal gave the team he supports a 1-0 victory against Leeds in the FA Cup – and boosted the Bet Dec coffers by £137.50 after a correct pre-match prediction.

“As the official charity partner of London Irish we are proud to work closely with The Prince’s Trust,” said Danaher. “I had fun with the column last season – especially the decent win on the Arsenal game – and it’s fantastic that, along with BETDAQ, we’ve been able to support the Trust in this way.”

Danaher and BETDAQ marketing director Shane McLaughlin presented Marion Walker, corporate partnerships manager for The Prince’s Trust, with the cheque at Kempton Park Racecourse.

Walker said: “We would like to thank Declan as well as everyone at London Irish and BETDAQ for their efforts and this kind donation which will go towards the Trust’s work in transforming lives by helping young people move into work, education or employment.”

McLaughlin added: “We were all cheering on every one of Declan’s bets last season – it was great that he managed to find a run of form.”
