This will obviously be a somewhat tricky game for betting, and even though you get a trophy at the end of the game – it is still basically a pre-season friendly for both sides, however both will want to win for different reasons – Leicester will want to send a message they aren’t one season wonders and surely Jose Mourinho will want to start on a winning note in England as new Manchester United manager.
United have looked in decent form in pre-season, and seem to have a reasonably settled side – the same can’t be said of Leicester, who still face doubts with the future of Mahrez. On balance, United look the best option in the 90 minutes market at around the 1.95 mark – they have a good record in the season opener having won five of their last six community shields and while you can’t read too much into pre-season, Leicester have still conceded eight goals in their last two games. It seems United will come into the game a shade more prepared and better placed with their tactics and team, and thus we’re happy to side with them.
Both have had plenty of goals in their pre-season games, and while both their meetings in the Premier League last season finished 1-1 – there could be more goals in this one, over 2.5 goals is currently trading 2.12 and could offer a shade of value at that.
