DAQMAN WANTS A THREE-STAR DAY: Daqman landed a 20-point supernap yesterday, back to back with his nap on Wednesday. He goes for the hat-trick this afternoon with a Star bet at Doncaster.

WON 8-13 SHINING BLUE (Thursday supernap from 4-5)
WON 8-11 ASAASSI (Wednesday nap)

FRANKIE DROPPED BY TEAM GOSDEN: Frankie Dettori is being replaced on John and Thady Gosden’s runners at Newmarket on Saturday after a dismal Royal Ascot, in which he was beaten on two royal runners after Stradivarius ran third, looking for a fourth Gold Cup. See below.

DOYLE MAY BE THE NEW DETTORI

The story breaks: 10 Days In The Doldrums: Daqman Monday

Hollie Doyle is a hot tip to replace Frankie Dettori. He missed so many open goals at Royal Ascot that he has been omitted from the team that made him famous, the stable of Golden Shot and Enable.

And connections at the stable, including those who praised Hollie Doyle for her French Oaks win with Nashwa on Sunday, want a permanent change of jockey.

For the Newmarket July course tomorrow, John and Thady Gosden have Robert Havlin on Stowell (2.40 Fred Archer Stakes) and James Doyle on Sunray Major (3.15).

The (Listed) Fred Archer Stakes and the (Group 3) Criterion Stakes are both major races. Havlin also rides Mimikyou (3.50) for Team Gosden.

Dettori has ridden Stowell five times since the four-year-old’s maiden victory for form figures of 30346, the last day sixth in a Royal Ascot handicap.

Sunray Major won back-to-back for Dettori last autumn but in four rides since (including at 2-1 favourite, 7-2 and 9-2) has finished 0004.

His future partnership of Emily Upjohn (narrowly lost the Oaks after stumbling at the start) and Inspiral, on whom he won the Coronation Stakes, are in question.

Dettori rides Lezoo (2.05) for Ralph Beckett on the Newmarket July-course card tomorrow, his only ride.

After the defeat of Stradivarius in the Gold Cup, Gosden is reported as saying: ‘Horses need your full attention, not wandering around with your lip down. You just get on with it.’ He will meet with Dettori sometime today.

STAR FOR THE NAPS HAT-TRICK

⭕ 2.45 Doncaster Nietzsche said you have to die three times in life before you reach maturity. Nietzsche’s Star just has to win three times, which is highly likely, and tempting for my hat-trick of naps at BETDAQ 3.1.

There are reasons to oppose the others: Tropez Power’s yard has a poor strike rate this year; Bayraq apparently needs a hood; Vintage Choice has won only his maiden, always a bad sign, and gelding didn’t seem to help.

Maytree Respite is unexposed for his first handicap but gives 6lb to the selection.

12.0 COUNT IS UP FOR THE CUP

⭕ 6.35 Newcastle (Gosforth Park Cup) Stone Of Destiny might respond to first-time blinkers but this is a race usually won by a local trainer with an outsider.

Count d’Orsay (Tim Easterby) is 5lb lower than when seventh in the race last year, whereas stablemate Copper Knight, who was fifth, is up 13lb.

Betdaq value 12.0 Count d’Orsay

O’BRIEN: BUT IS TEMPLE AHEAD?

⭕ 6.43 Curragh Cup Temple Of Artemis will miss tomorrow’s Irish Derby to take part in this 1m 6f Group 2, a race won seven times by his trainer, Aidan O’Brien.

The same stable’s Wordsworth is the likely favourite but five O’Brien winners of the race this century were not market leader. Their winning SPs included 12-1, 9-2 and 7-2.

Wordsworth (Ryan Moore) was third to Hurricane Lane in the Irish Derby here last June and second in very soft ground to the same horse in the Grand Prix de Paris.

He’s tried several different trips this year between winning an ordinary race at Gowran Park (1m 5f+ pipped Sunchart a head) and finishing down the field in the Queen Alexandra marathon over a mile further at Royal Ascot recently.

Temple Of Artemis was third in the maiden at Leopardstown won by Irish Derby outsider, Boundless Ocean, before winning a handicap at the Chester May meeting.

Master Of Reality was runner-up in this Curragh Cup in 2020 and has won the same Listed race at Down Royal two years running.

Gear Up, 10th in Adayar’s 2021 Derby at Epsom, was often thereabouts in Group races around today’s trip, but had to drop back to 1m 1.5f to return to form at Gowran Park recently.

Camorra won a Group-3 at 1m 4f last autumn but was three times a Listed loser this Spring.

Manu Et Corde ran a cracker, third, in the Ulster Derby, albeit that’s a handicap. His best form last year was runner-up to Luxembourg in the Beresford.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
