INSPIRAL BOUNCES BACK

Frankie’s back. So is Inspiral. Dettori had his first big day in the limelight for Team Gosden since his ‘sabbatical’ from the yard when he won the million-euro Group-1 Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville yesterday.

Inspiral, starting at 9-5, had flopped at 7-1 on last month trying to follow up a sensational Coronation Stakes success at Royal Ascot.

It looked like an uneven battle – the filly against the Classic-winning colt – for her comeback yesterday but the favourite, Coroebus, was ‘not at the races’.

A slow start from the widest draw is the best they could come up with for the defeat of the 8-5 shot, now the only one in the first three to let down his own Newmarket 2,000 Guineas form.

Charlie Appleby, trainer of Coroebus, had a Group-3 double on the Deauville card via Mysterious Night and Eternal Pearl, both ridden by William Buick, while James Doyle landed him the Group-1 Berlin grand prix at the Hoppegarten with Rebel’s Romance.

POOL LOOKS COOL

⭕ 1.00 Lingfield Executive Pool can give Gary Moore a winner but he won’t be as big in the market as the trainer’s latest winner on the flat. OJ Lifestyle sprang a 125/1 surprise when pipping my nap Leadman a nose at Newbury on Friday.

The handicapper has given Executive Pool a chance here off the same mark of 55 as when he he finished second at Windsor last time out. That was a good effort and the three-year-old looks capable of further improvement at this level. He was quite highly tried last season and this looks calmer waters.

Myriad won well enough at Kempton last week but the 6lb resulting penalty might be a steadier and he’s failed to follow up a previous win in the past.

REMEMBER THE NAP

⭕ 4.25 Catterick The North Yorkshire venue hosts one of the most competitive cards I’ve seen there. It might be a Monday and good to firm ground but many races are 4/1+ the field on the Betdaq Betting Exchange.

The exception is this novice event in which the southern raiders should dominate.

Remembering represents William Haggas who is running at a strike-rate of 30% over the last two weeks with 11 winners from 37 runners.

Remembering has made a promising start to her career. It’s fair to say she bumped into one when third to Emily Upjohn on debut at Sandown and the winner was unlucky not to win the Oaks.

We can’t take that form line too literally though as Remembering was disappointing at Redcar last time out when a beaten odds-on favourite behind Elegant Verse. The winner has been beaten twice since in Listed company but the overall form looks far superior to what’s on offer here and the return to the faster ground should suit Remembering today.

Main danger should come from Firebolt who overcame a poor start to finish third to Holocene on debut at Ripon, although the winner hasn’t exactly boosted the form since.

CLIMBING NEW HEIGHTS

⭕ 7.50 Windsor An interesting finale in which four of the five runners were winners last time out.

In addition both Precisely and New Heights are chasing a hat-trick.

Pride Of Nepal was a course and distance winner last time out but it was a blanket finish and this will be much tougher with 3lb more.

It might be best left to New Heights who might find the company here slightly easier after her wins at Epsom and Sandown and she can continue her superb run of form this season.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
