DAQMAN GOES FOR AN EARLY BIG VALUE SHOT TODAY: Daqman concentrates on Hamilton and Leicester this afternoon with two flat cards highlighting a relatively quiet Monday.

SPRINTER BACK IN FULL SWING: Nicky Henderson paraded his superstar, Sprinter Sacre at his stable’s Open Day on Sunday. The former Champion Chaser appearing to be recovered from the ailments that took over him last season as Henderson proclaimed that his Champion Chase crown is merely on load to Sire De Grugy.

SEE THE VALUE AT 9.2 IN HAMILTON

2.20 Hamilton Despite there being 16 runners, this does not look to be overly competitive and I can readily whittle the field down to 3 choices, Rylee Mooch, Bearskin and See Vermont.

Rylee Mooch is the likely jolly for this 6 furlong contest but he has to overcome the fact that he ran over 5 furlongs yesterday and some improving sorts who are receiving weight from him.

A similar argument is made for Bearsking who has risen in the weights quite rapidly since winning in July at Ripon and again, over course and distance, in August.

The value looks, to me, to be lying with See Vermont. The ground and trip are all in his favour and he is getting a stone from many of his main rivals. He still runs off a mark of 49 and this could be still a little lenient for a horse that is as consistent as he is.

2.50 Hamilton A small field for an 11 furlong handicap but this is a very competitive race with none of field trading at higher than 8.4.

Mariner’s Moon looks the pick of these on previous form having won a nice race at York in May. He went quite high in the Handicap shortly after that getting up to 75. Back down to 69 today, he could be able to pick this up with the small field off a mark that looks to be within his grasp.

4.20 Hamilton This looks like it should be an easy enough task for Mark Johnston’s Stretchworth, if fit enough. Johnston’s horses are generally well prepared and if he can recreate the form of his two runs at the end of last season in two Newmarket Maidens, he should be able to collect this one.

3.00 Leicester This Novice Stakes contest has just four runners with the absence of the Richard Hannon trained Sunset Trail.

It looks very difficult to see past the Godolphin owned Charming Thought who had been entered for the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes last week. He’s obviously held in high enough regard by Charlie Appelby and this sort of race looks to be right up his street and should score again.

4.00 Leicester This looks a tough enough race for some of these and it could be worth following the top weight, Milly’s Gift.

Smart Daisy K won nicely at Bath last time out but this is a slightly better race and he is one that may struggle slightly.

The same can be said for Taajub who is consistent but has a lot to find with Milly’s Gift.

Despite being top weight, Milly’s Gift looks to be the most solid option in this one. Although she had a poor run last time out in Ascot, she should be able to bounce back to score here.
