PUNTERS DEALT 45,083-1 BLOW: The going was hard for punters at Naas yesterday with three races in a row going to 25/1, 50/1 and 33/1 winners – wrapping up in a 45,083-1 treble. Biggest benefactor was trainer Henry De Bromhead responsible for two of the winners Totally Puzzled (50/1) and Wannabe Royal (33/1).

IN CONTROL: In the first Group race of the day Victorious landed the odds narrowly in the fillies sprint but the one to take out of the race was debutant Controlla who went down by only a neck. In a field of six, where five were unbeaten, she put in a huge run for trainer Robson De Aguiar and the front two pulled six lengths clear of the third. She has no future races in the diary yet but will have gone into multiple trackers after that run!

MAYBE THIS TIME?

⭕ 4.43 Redcar Maybe Soon hardly leaps off the page but she surely deserves another chance after finding a ton of trouble on her handicap debut at Southwell. In the end she was beaten less than six lengths and the handicapper has dropped her 4lb for this weaker race which looks over dramatic.

She’s one of the few here who you could realistically expect to find further improvement and she did show ability on her first two starts at Southwell and Newcastle.

Twilight Down was heading the morning Betdaq Betting Exchange market but she has been bitterly disappointing so far. There was a glimmer of promise last time out at Doncaster but it was the same grade as today and suddenly she’s market leader today when she was a 40/1 chance last time!

Long Shot ran well in third here in April but could only finish eighth on his return to Redcar earlier this month when he was a disappointing beaten favourite. The step up in trip to seven furlongs is also far from certain to suit given he was weakening two furlongs out that day over six furlongs.

REDORANGE TO SHADE IT

⭕ 5.40 Windsor The best handicap race of the day is this class 2 over five furlongs which looks best left to Redorange who has plenty of experience at this level and this looks a perfect chance for him to gain an overdue third career win.

Clive Cox has him out again quickly after an eye-catching run at York last week when he finished a close up eighth to Jakajaro in a competitive class 2. He was repeatedly denied a clear run in that race and the form can be upgraded.

Regal Envoy is a tough cookie – bidding for a 14th career win. He arrives in good form having made all to win at Bath last time out but will find this tougher – up in grade and up 3lb in the handicap.

BECKETT IN COMMAND

⭕ 7.40 Windsor With doubts over his principal rivals, Naval Command is taken to defy a 331 day absence for trainer Ralph Beckett.

The four-year-old starts life in handicap company off a very workable mark of 85 and has his irst start for Beckett tonight having joined from the Charlie Appleby yard.

Due To Henry ran a good race at Haydock last time out but this looks harder and I wouldn’t trust him to put in back to back good runs.

Son Of Man has been running well on the all-weather but his only win so far on turf has come with give in the ground and trainer Jim Boyle is 0-10 over the last fortnight.
