DAQMAN’S PICK KEEPS HIM AHEAD OF THE GAME: Daqman has been having a tilt this week, but protecting his back with a spread of bets. That paid off again yesterday, with Pick A Little (WON 3-1) and Pearl Ice (WON 5-2), edging a small profit. But he is calling it a breakeven day.

40.0 AND 18.5 IN ROYAL ASCOT STAND-OUTS: Betdaq stands out from the crowd, and its ante-post lists contain individual strong candidates for Royal Ascot which are stand-outs, price-wise. Daqman has found some at 40.0 and 18.5.

HOOF IT (Tuesday, Kings Stand Stakes) Only 8-1 with my mean local bookmaker, published in the trade paper this morning at 9-1 with Coral and Hills, and generally 10-1, Hoof It is 18.5 on BETDAQ, as I write.

Hoof It is likely to swerve an encounter with Black Caviar later in the week. Stepped up from handicaps (four wins out of five) for two excellent runs in Group 1 last season.

Soft ground didn’t suit him at York but he still got within two lengths of the winner in the Nunthorpe then, with the going on top, he was a nose and a head off taking the Haydock Sprint.

He was an unlucky loser that day, a nose behind the runner-up, Bated Breath: Hoof It was carried left by the winner, Dream Ahead, but was in front just past the line.

How can Bated Breath be 5.5 and Hoof It 18.5 in the list of offers this morning? Don’t make sense, as Lord Sugar might say.

GOLDEN LILAC (Wednesday, Prince Of Wales’s Stakes): Last year’s French 1,000 Guineas and Oaks winner, is best on genuinely good ground so she could well come over from France and fulfill this engagement.

Inflicted a surprise defeat on odds-on Cirrus Des Aigles in her reappearance race, the Group-1 Prix d’Ispahan at Longchamp 12 days ago.

Showed an ‘electric turn of foot,’ according to race commentators, ‘has clearly improved’ and was being talked of as a possible for the Arc.

Cirrus Des Aigles is 4.0 for the Prince Of Wales’s as I write, with Golden Lilac 6.8. Shum mishtake somewhere!

COLOUR VISION (Thursday, Gold Cup): For a three-year-old to get into the frame in the Gold Cup is a rare achievement. For him to face the same adversaries the following year is a bonus, with every chance of improving past them.

That’s the case with Colour Vision, who showed by beating Red Cadeaux first time back that he is a more mature animal this season.

He has just a length and a half to make up on Fame And Glory, who is six years old now, yet Fame And Glory is 2.75 and Colour Vision 6.8, at time of writing.

KRYPTON FACTOR (Diamond Jubilee, Saturday): Frankel will scare them away in the Queen Anne, and Black Caviar will make this Diamond Jubilee a procession, say the pundits.

But is it such a foregone conclusion? More importantly, is there any value in Black Caviar at 1.4? Maybe it’s a race to watch but, if you had a silly price, you’d want to be in (you can’t win if you ain’t in).

The ‘silly price’ you can get is Krypton Factor, 40.0 on BETDAQ, but as low as 12-1 with Betfred and 14-1 with Hills. Yep, you can get three times the money over those mean old alien bookies, who are clearly on another planet when it comes to bad value.

Like Hoof It, Krypton Factor has shot up the ranks from handicaps to win the Group-1 Golden Shaheen at Meydan this Spring.

The horse he beat in that race, Rocket Man, is winner of 20 top sprints, including the previous season’s Golden Shaheen, which was part of a Group-1 hat-trick.

DAQMAN’S BETS

BET 7.5pts win (nap) DAY IN THE SUN (5.55 Uttoxeter)
BET 1.1pts win SILENT SNOW (6.25 Uttoxeter)
BET 3.7pts win ALLANARD (8.50 Wetherby)

* Daqman’s selections are backed to win 20 points (unless otherwise stated) so, if you divide 20 by his stake, you know the Betdaq offer taken at the time.
