SCOTTISH TOUCH WINS AYR CASH: Three returns for Daqman at Ayr yesterday, two of them counting in the challenge to Pricewise (scores now Daqman 85, Pricewise 14). BETDAQ offers at the time the selections were made are in brackets (the neck second Only Mine was a win-and-place bet):

WON 6-1 Don’t Touch (9.4 BETDAQ)
WON 9-2 Scottish (6.4 BETDAQ)
2ND 15-2 Only Mine (11.0 BETDAQ)

IRISH HAVE SUNDAY BEST RACES: Today there are Group/Grade 3 races on the Flat at Gowran Park and over jumps at Listowel, while a modest Hamilton Park card in England is supported by two jumps meetings. Somewhere there’s a banker!

BIG ENGLISH HANDICAP COUNTDOWN: Next week Daqman will be looking ahead to the Cambridgeshire meeting at Newmarket, with four major two-year-old tests and the big handicap itself on Saturday. Look out tomorrow for a BETDAQ-sponsored card at Kempton Park.

GRADE-1 SCORE SUGGESTS YOU PLAY GUITAR

1.15 Listowel It’s a huge day for Jessica Harrington under both Rules, with her top novice chaser Rock the World appearing here 40 minutes before she saddles Jack Naylor in a Group 3 at Gowran Park.

She also has Neverushacon in this Grade-C hurdle but with lengths to make up on Zafayan on Galway form.

Aidan O’Brien also features under both Rules, taking Jessica on at Gowran and opposing here with the very smart Tigris River, who beat Zafayan easily five days later at Galway.

2.15 Listowel Rock The World has finished two races at Galway, winning on the last day, as if a step up from 2m 2f was needed, as befits a 2m hurdles winner.

But, when the Dark Angel grey Guitar Pete – already a chase winner at 2m 4f – was taking his 2m hurdles, they were Grade 1 and he doesn’t deserve to be playing second string in the market here.

BIG DROP IN CLASS SHOULD LIFT JACK NAYLOR

2.55 Gowran The older fillies, Marsh Daisy and Secret Pursuit, and the mare Dragon Fei, are Listed level at best, and three-year-olds are 9 out of 10 in this Group 3.

Stellar Glow has been behind Easter (twice) and Jack Naylor this season, and those two look hard to beat at the front of the market.

That is, unless you believe the Killarney form of Off Limits, when she seemingly came back to her best and had Easter back in third.

To do so, you have to assume that her seasonal debut, and then her flop in the Leopardstown 1,000 Guineas Trial, were both down to heavy ground. Quite possibly; but she may also prefer going left-handed.

Group-1 performer Jack Naylor, the Irish Oaks runner-up, down two grades, and back in trip, looks the most likely winner.

Intriguing that Seamie Heffernan (Easter) and Emmet McNamara (Outstanding) ride for Ballydoyle, while Joseph O’Brien is on Secret Pursuit for Marcus Tregoning, with her season geared to an her autumn campaign.

She likes it soft, but the forecast rains may not come in time today.

STATS SAY FOLLOW THE SIMCOCK RAIDING PARTY

2.50 and 3.50 Hamilton Newmarket (David Simcock’s Esrick) and Lambourn (Jo Hughes with Lady Gemini) think the 2.50 fillies’ prize worth travelling for, but both must be casting a wary eye on Lacing, trained by man-of-the-moment Richard Fahey, his only runner of the day.

Lacing has to carry top weight but is down in trip and grade, from class 2 and Listed level, whereas Esrick and Lady Gemini have to leap two levels from class 5.

Pull The Plug was third at this level over today’s CD last month but he, too, has scored only in class 5 and is a year older.

Just three points separate four of the six horses in the BETDAQ orange, which tells it all: it’s a hard race.

I had a pound (at 9.2 on BETDAQ) on Economic Crisis, seven times a winner here at Hamilton, and entitled to beat Pull the Plug on the form of their last day.

But I had to back the Simcock horse. When the stable’s horses travel far, they have an amazing 45% win record. So I supported both Esrick and Ainslie (3.50), his two Scottish raiders today.
