KING-HIGH DAQMAN LANDS HIS NAP IN WINNERS HAT-TRICK: It’s the eve of the late start to the English Flat-racing season, and king-of-the-tipsters Daqman landed his nap among three in a row at Clairefontaine yesterday for five winners in two days and a profit of nearly 60 points.

Saturday (profit 45.50)
✔️ WON 5-1 JUGEOTTE from 9.0 on BETDAQ
✔️ WON 23-10 ENOLA GAY from 6.5 BETDAQ
✔️ WON 23-10 HIGH KING (nap)

Friday (profit 14 points)
✔️ WON 54-10 SPIRIT INTIME from 9.0 on BETDAQ
✔️ WON 14-5 FANTASIA DU ROCK

FORTUNE COOKIES LAUNCHED WITH DEAUVILLE SUPERNAP: Daqman’s armoury of bets is under orders for next week. Jugeotte and Spirit Intime were both tipped ‘back and lay’ (so that’s 3-3), and the nap was staked to win 20 points. Fortune Cookies are back with a supernap Derby-trial bet today on the eve of the French Guineas. Now look out for the return of the big hitters – bull’s-eye naps and win-50 bets – plus the challenge to Pricewise, and the value betting secret that Daqman seems to be keeping close to his chest.

GOLD ON THE EVE OF FRENCH GUINEAS

⚠️ LEADING FRENCH (FLAT) TRAINERS: Jean-Claude Rouget 32, Frederic Rossi 28, Christophe Ferland 25, Christophe Escuder 24, Fabrice Vermeulen 23, Francis-Henri Graffard 21, Jerome Reynier 20, Henri-Alex Pantall 20, Andrea Marcialis 18.

⚠️ JOCKEYS: Pierre-Charles Boudot 65, Christophe Soumillon 49, Maxime Guyon 46, Cristian Demuro 33, Anthony Crastus 30, Eddy Hardouin 28, Julien Auge 27, Axelle Nicco 21, Delphine Santiago 20.

⭕ 1.35 Deauville Chantilly trainer Andrea Marcialis, who has a 42% strike rate (5-12) at Deauville this year, is expected to get his two-year-old filly, Rose Gold, off the mark here, after her neck second of 15 on home turf earlier this month.

The danger is the grey Penny Whistle; one start, one win at Angers, but now giving 3lb to the third, Success Story.

⭕ 2.15 Deauville Farout, who ran here last year against tomorrow’s French 2,000 Guineas contender, Ecrivain, was later runner-up to subsequent Listed winner, Waltham.

He confirmed the strength of that form by beating a big field at Vichy two weeks back, first time in a handicap.

Unfortunately, the handicapper thinks the Dark Angel grey was a good winner and has allowed the length-and-a-quarter runner-up, By The Way, a 9lb pull, which also applies to La Javanaise, who was a length further behind but who has been ignored for this race by Boudot.

He is on Sous Les Nuages (BETDAQ 6.5) – well stalled in three – who was third to Ocean Atlantique on the debut in October, unhappy on heavy ground, and made a quiet reappearance for Andre Fabre in March.

Just a short-neck separated Youmdor and Lionel when placed at Saint-Cloud two weeks ago (Raja Luna sixth) but there wasn’t much substance to the form.

By The Way, Farout and Lionel all have high draws. By the Way looks best at the weights but the low stall could be decisive for Sous Les Nuages after three runs in maidens.

2.50 Deauville A Listed race which should take Ocean Atlantique forward to the French Derby. The $275,000 yearling made 1,100,000 euros as a two-year-old, and looked special in his maiden at Saint-Cloud in October.

Pierre-Charles Boudot and ‘Ocean’ kept on well to run top Derby contender Pao Alto to a length and a half in the notable trial, the Prix La Force, when Longchamp was last on the go, earlier this month.

ZIYAD MAY LACK ZIP AGAINST KING

⭕ 4.00 Deauville (Grand Prix de Chantilly) Waldgeist, who stunned the racing world by beating Enable in last year’s Arc, won this grand prix in June when, of course, it was run at Chantilly.

Third was Way To Paris, who has a poor strike rate (1-23 in the last three years) but ran a cracker in the Harcourt recently, dividing Shaman and the Exbury winner, Simona.

Both trainer Marcialis and jockey Boudot are in tremendous form, but Harcourt fifth and sixth, Villa Rosa, Royal Julius and Folamour, are all back for more.

Royal Julius was even further behind French King at Doha in February, when the five-year-old was making it five out of six, with only the Arc (ninth to Waldgeist) too good for him.

French King (3.75 on BETDAQ this morning) had won the same race at Doha in 2019 followed by Group 1 (one) and Group 2 (twice) in Germany,

Big danger is Ziyad, 2-2 at Deauville and who might have won today’s race a year ago but, short of room in the closing stages, was beaten less than a length.

He then stepped up a grade into the Group-1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and was pipped a short-neck by Frankie Dettori on John Gosden’s filly, Coronet.

French King has 2lb in hand of Ziyad on so-called international ratings but it may be more today, with Ziyad’s trainer, Carlos Laffon-Parias, so out of form (only six winners this year, and currently missing strike with eight of his last 11 runners placed but without a single winner, and 0-20 in 19 days).

4.35 Deauville (Prix du Gros-Chene) This is a rerun of the Prix de Saint-Georges at Longchamp three weeks ago, when all bar Finsbury Square and Euryvale finished behind Batwan on very soft ground.

French tracks almost always have plenty of give in the ground so it’s hard to predict the Deauville going today after two days of sunshine.

Sestilio Jet, third in the Saint-Georges three weeks ago, had the benefit of a run when he beat Batwan in the same race the year before but was short of a prep this time. Jet’s engine is hot this time and value at 5.0 BETDAQ.
