NAPS SEQUENCE FINISHES AT FIVE: Daqman’s bid for six naps in a row failed yesterday. What happened? ‘I started to bet against myself,’ said our man; ‘you pick one; then you find something to beat it!’ The value-challenge score was Daqman 0, Pricewise 0

DAQMAN ON THE FRENCH GUINEAS: Lingfield, Leopardstown and Longchamp! You Got To Me was highlighted by Daqman in the Lingfield Oaks Trial yesterday, and there’s a Derby trial at Leopardstown this afternoon. But first the French Guineas at Longchamp.

FOLGARIA COULD WIN IN STYLE

GOING GOOD TO FIRM in Paris after weekend sunshine but is that good for the punter with most Classics and trials run on soft or the easy side of good so far.

⭕ 2.50 Longchamp (French 1,000 Guineas) STATS: Favourites: 3-10; Trainers: Jean-Claude Rouget 4; Draw: 1 and 3 five out of eight.

1: Folgaria Unbeaten (6-6) Fred Darling winner in the hands of Great Generation’s trainer, Marco Botti, beating subsequent 1,000 Guineas winner, Elmalka, into third by half a length.

2: Romantic Style Supplemented after her Prix Imprudence victory came at the expense of the subsequent English 1,000 Guineas third and fourth, Ramatuelle and Tamfana, with yesterday’s Lingfield Group 3 winner, Great Generation, fourth. Drawn wide in 14.

3: Louise Proctor Also unbeaten (3-3) but first Group attempt today for top trainer in this Classic, Jean-Claude Rouget. Well bred (by Siyouni), well drawn and the one for the money this morning.

Rock’n Swing (2-2 for Andre Fabre) has even more to prove. So, too, Rose Bloom: in the Prix Marcel Boussac, she was five lengths behind Aidan O’Brien’s Opera Singer.

O’Brien today saddles Content, who was fourth in the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies, after winning a Group 3 at the Curragh. This Pouliches is not his race.

LONGFELLOW TOP OF THE CLASS

⭕ 3.30 Longchamp (French 2,000 Guineas) This is a high-class renewal, which could put the Newmarket Guineas in the shade and see Aidan O’Brien make up for the City of Troy flop.

STATS: Favourites: 4-10; Trainers: Andre Fabre 3, Aidan O’Brien 2; Draw: 3, 3, 2, 2, 6, 4, 7.

1: Henry Longfellow Dubawi colt, unbeaten 3-3, won the Curragh Futurity and the National Stakes, which often holds the key to the Classic generation. Aidan O’Brien has found hot form this week.

2: Ramadan For the burgeoning Head-Lemaitre team, needed pressure to hold Beauvatier in the Fontainebleau traditional trial over today’s CD,

3: Beauvatier Third in the Lagardere to Newmarket 2,000 runner-up Rosallion, when slightly hampered. See Ramadan.

4: Diego Velazquez Frankel colt, champion juvenile at Leopardstown last season when he beat Dee Stakes winner Capulet.

Jean-Claude Rouget runs Prix Djebel runner-up Keran and the supplemented Puchkine (stall 2 today), and Andre Fabre saddles Alcantor and Supercooled.

Dewhurst third and Craven Stakes runner-up Eben Shaddad (Team Gosden) comes out of stall 3.

DON’T FORGET 10.0 EUPHORIC

⭕ 3.35 Leopardstown (Derby Trial) Los Angeles or Euphoric would be Aidan O’Brien’s 16th winner of this trial, recent best of them probably Broome (2019).

Five-lengths second to Henry Longfellow in the National Stakes, Los Angeles won the Criterium de Saint-Cloud in October, with yesterday’s Lingfield trial runner-up, Illinois, in third; today’s French Guineas contender, Ramadan, fourth; and Dee Stakes runner-up, Bracken’s Laugh, in fifth.

The Frankel colt Euphoric cost 1.9m guineas as a yearling. Has had a run back and O’Brien won this in 2017 and 2020 with 7-1 and 12-1 shots.

MONSIEUR AT THE WEIGHTS..

⭕ 5.27 Newcastle Marco Botti, who is playing his Classic card at Longchamp, has Rocket Warrior going for a hat-trick today.

But his stablemate who ran up to him, beaten a length at Chelmsford, was trounced five lengths the last day.

At the weights the most likely winner is Yorkshire–based Monsieur Melee, who might have been placed raiding south at Sandown but for a tardy start. Betdaq Betting Exchange 3.7 taken.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
