10.0 BIG HANDICAP SAUNTER OVER PRICEWISE: Daqman literally sauntered home over Pricewise in the 2017 Flat-season value-betting challenge, landing the last two big handicap winners, one of them in the Doncaster November Handicap with Saunter (WON 6-1), which he named at 10.0 on BETDAQ in the morning.

DAQMAN THE FLAT-SEASON WINNER BY 86-23: Saunter gave the contest a final tally of 86-23 in Daqman’s favour and a difference between them of 308 points to single-unit stakes. Daqman also bagged his third consecutive winning supernap, and made it eight winners in three days as follows:

Saturday
WON 6-1 SAUNTER (November Handicap, 10.0 BETDAQ)
WON 5-1 DREAM OF DREAMS (‘huge at 9.6 on BETDAQ’)
WON 4-6 MODUS (supernap)

Friday
WON 14-1 DIAMOND GAIT
WON 5-2 POUVOIR MAGIQUE

Thursday
WON 3-10 CLAIMANTAKINFORGAN (7-10 BETDAQ supernap)
WON 5-2 POPPY KAY
WON 11-4 MONBEG CHARMER (5.6 taken on BETDAQ)

OVERALL IT’S DAQMAN 493: PRICEWISE 194

Daqman is now unbeaten in eight seasons against Pricewise. The 86-23 victory for the Flat just ended was his second highest margin of victory over the Racing Post value tipster since he won the 2015 Flat season 105-23.

But it was his best season for the profits margin, finishing 308 points ahead of Pricewise to single-unit investment per selection at SP, much higher of course if assessed on BETDAQ morning prices which were again bigger for both handicap winners yesterday.

Daqman has now had a total of 493 winning bets to Pricewise 194 since November 2013, and will continue the challenge at least until he hits 500.

But it’s been underarm bowling from Pricewise with only 38 wins in two seasons now, as Daqman continued to hit him all round the ground for 279 wins to 86 over the last three Flat campaigns.

Daqman landed the first big handicap winner of 2017 (Bravery 20-1 in the Lincoln) and the last (Saunter 6-1 yesterday) with huge punts in between, including Enable (WON 25-1) ante-post in the Epsom Oaks, Caspian Prince (WON 25-1) at the same meeting in the Dash, and SEVEN consecutive Classics winners, among them Winter (WON 9-1).

Daqman made 69 points profit against Pricewise at Royal Ascot alone, with Pricewise ending that meeting on only EIGHT winning bets for the entire season at that stage. The full history of Daqman v Pricewise is now:

GO FOR A SUNNY START AT SANDOWN

12.45 Sandown Bryony Frost, who won the Badger Ales for its sponsors yesterday, will find this tougher than any handicap here as she cannot claim on Vicenzo Mio, ex-Paul Nicholls who now saddles Capeland.

And last year’s winning trainer, Ian Williams, won TWO big races yesterday, taking the November Handicap and the Elite Hurdle.

I pity the racecourse commentator but he may have to call the same stable’s Sunnytahliateigan, carrying a featherweight here after having a run back: 7.4 on BETDAQ

1.40 Navan Two likely stars of the Christmas scene and Cheltenham reappear in the space of 40 minutes, Apple’s Jade here at Navan and Might Bite at Sandown.

Unfortunately neither was better than 2-1 on this morning so I can only nominate them as hubs for your Daq Multiples.

Apple’s Jade notoriously made a slow start last season but eventually won back-to-back Grade 1 at the Cheltenham and Punchestown festivals. Now the mare is en route to the Champion Hurdle via the Hattons’ Grace in December.

2.20 Sandown Modus won the chase at Wincanton yesterday which launched one of the stars of my last season’s Fortune Cookies, Frodon, who appears to have a massive task here against Might Bite though he gets three years from that rival.

Frodon, winner of six out of nine last season, took last December’s winter gold cup at Cheltenham but it was skilful placing by trainer Nicholls that earned the gold star.

And, reading between the lines, I don’t think we’ll see the best of him this winter until his handicap mark is eased a bit.

Today’s 3m is likely to be a trip too far for this freegoing sort. Nor can I fancy his stablemate, As De Mee, whose head carriage has always put me off a bet.

Might Bite, going for a four-timer here, might break Frodon’s heart by pinging his way round here on his way to the King George.

2.55 Sandown Garo De Juilley wasn’t quite right at this time last year and took time to add to his 2015 four-timer but he looked the part again on his home track at Wincanton three weeks ago on his return when robbed of victory by a very-slow-run race.

Looked tasty at 8.2 on BETDAQ early mouse but drifted to 10.0, which is a worry. The ones they came for were Wenyerreadyfreddie and Maria’s Benefit, with ‘Freddie’ having to give ‘Maria’ more than a stone.

The Beneficial mare, a 6.4 offer, won a 3m Point but doesn’t like being held up and could be hard to catch off this lenient opening handicap mark, back at the minimum. She seems to have both speed and stamina.

3.30 Sandown Double Ross (3.00 BETDAQ offers this morning) is better off at the weights with Loose Chips though he beat that one when they were first and second at Chepstow a year or so again.

And Loose Chips pulled up behind him when he was fourth there on his reappearance, with the fragile It’s a Gimme well beaten off. Gimme hasn’t won since 2014 and finds this trip too far.

Houblon des Obeaux has won just the once since 2013 and his stable has been out of form (1-28 in the last fortnight and two fancied horses both pulled up yesterday).
