ALL ABOARD AS DAQMAN GOES FOR A HAT-TRICK OF BEST BETS: Tiger Roll is back at Navan! And there are tips, too, for Carlisle and Ludlow, with Daqman going nap on a well-handicapped Station Master, who carries the burden of the hat-trick bid.

16-YEAR-OLD RIDER IN STAR ROLE

⚠️ HEADS UP The 16-year-old claimer Sam Ewing will ride dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll at Navan this afternoon. He’s ‘absolutely bouncing’ for his comeback, says trainer Gordon Elliott. See below: Roll Over For Tiger To Score.

⚠️ HEADS UP Trainer Mark Johnston has joined the attack on a fixture list with too many meetings and a catch-all basis. ‘The idea that we have to produce opportunities for all horses no matter how slow they are is nonsense.’ See yesterday: Fourteen Races Are Just Juvenile

⚠️ HEADS UP The two-day meeting at Doncaster starting tomorrow features the two-year-old Futurity which has produced the last three 2,000 Guineas winners. See Monday’s Archive: Futurity: Last 2yo Battleground.

⚠️ HEADS UP Nine have been declared for the Futurity, headed by Wembley (Aidan O’Brien) and One Ruler (Charlie Appleby). Also probables are King Vega, State Of Rest, Magellan, Cobh, Baradar, Mac Swiney and Emperor Supreme.

⚠️ HEADS UP Centrepiece of the two-day Aintree meeting is the Old Roan Chase on Sunday. See Tuesday’s Archive: My Date With Annie At Aintree.

CARLISLE TRIP A MASTER STROKE

⭕ 3.25 Carlisle Kim Bailey, who is currently striking at 25%, and has two runners at Ludlow, sends just one other on a solo mission to Carlisle where he has a huge 80% record (4-5).

The lone raider, Station Master, goes North 15lb lower than at this time last year; he weakened only on the run-in at today’s trip when last seen at Uttoxeter.

Federici and Boric are 11 and 12 now, old hands at this sort of slog, and well enough weighted to grind out the places.

But Federici hasn’t won in class 3 for almost three years, and Damiens Dilemma , who is also 12, must also go up a grade here if he is to complete his hat-trick.

Lough Derg Farmer has scored only in novice company, so I’m taking a chance on Station Master, who is well below his mark the day I saw him jump so well round Cheltenham. I took 3.2 on the BETDAQ betting exchange .

ROLL OVER FOR TIGER TO SCORE

⭕ 4.15 Navan The layers don’t believe it. That’s lucky for us. But enough times at inflated offers, the great champions of racing are such powerful animals they can win just about any race gifted to them.

On Sunday we had Sceau Royal first run back in the ‘wrong’ discipline, so why not Tiger Roll, the Grand National and cross-countrys winner, launching his new season in a maiden on the Flat at Navan this afternoon.

He may be on an ‘easy’ but that’s what they thought about Sceau Royal and, ‘prepping for the Tingle Creek’ or not, a 163-rated chaser started 10-1 off 150 in a hurdles race, and soon had them all up the creek.

Power not pace may let in Tiger Roll as rain has continued to fall on the soft-heavy surface at Navan. He’s won on deep surfaces is no fledgling testing his wings, which is what this race comprises.

Tiger has won four hurdle races, was second on his sole Flat start, and his record after a break in the last four years is 121410, and looked huge in the BETDAQ orange at 7.3 this morning.

He’s not a carthorse of a stayer or even a big-boned bull of a chaser. He’s a pocket rocket, like his jockey, 16-year-old 7lb claimer, Sam Ewing.

Most of his opponents here are maidens; don’t know how to win a race; nothing going for them but their youth. Four are more than half his age, four years younger.

Ciel d’Afrique and Greek Gladiator are already asked to wear cheekpieces or blinkers, and novice-hurdle winner Jesse Evans is a bigger threat.

But horse for the future to keep an eye on is Willie Mullins’s Princess Vega, also a hurdle winner but also returning from a long lay-off. She’s a daughter of Quevega.

PLAY THE COMPOSEUR FOR JONJO

⭕ 4.53 Ludlow Jonjo O’Neill’s winners make a healthy level-stakes profit at Ludlow, and he appears to have lined up The Composeur for a solid return to action in this. The 5.0 in the BETDAQ orange is also a solid return for punters.

The Composeur gets the sound surface he needs: his form on no worse than good to soft is 2112; on soft and heavy it is 0000. Impressive on handicap debut in February and has had a decent run back.

Manjaam hasn’t won on the Flat since May, 2018, and his two recent hurdles places were over shorter. Trainer David Loughnane is currently 0-24 and hasn’t had a hurdles winner for almost eight months.

Innerpickle could improve again. A marathon trip brought out the best in him at Newton Abbot, his first win in six starts, so unexposed.

Evenstevens also stepped up in trip for his handicap debut at Doncaster, when beaten favourite under today’s claimer.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
