THAT OLD FOX DAQMAN TIPS TWO 10-1 SHOTS: The return of Frankie Dettori, the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood and the Galway Hurdle. It’s another dual day of plenty in the racing world, which starts with Daqman leading Pricewise 52-19 (Daqman +70, Pricewise -73 to single-unit level stakes).

COMPLETION’S BIG AT BETDAQ 11.5

1.50 Goodwood The stats say you need to be drawn just off the rail in 4, 5, 6 and 7, or sweep down the outside from 10, 11, 14, 16.

So squeezed out on the rails or in the sandwich filling may be Al Jellaby, Bathsheba Bay, Maverick Officer, Rock Eagle, and Zaman.

Yet we are looking to Al Jellaby, Rock Eagle and Communique to put some pace to the race. The message, therefore, seems to be that Communique is perfectly placed to go on.

Silvestre De Sousa, who was in a different parish on Lil Rockerfeller yesterday, partners Communique (from stall 4), a winner for him twice this season at today’s 1m 2f.

But his trainer, Mark Johnston, top at the Glorious meeting for so long now, has been out of form this week, with 16 losers since Dark Vision’s Classic-promise performance on day one.

Communique is badly off here with Crownthorpe, who is also well in with Completion.

But Crownthorpe looks well exposed and doubtful to get this trip whereas I see Completion (11.5 taken on BETDAQ) as the ‘hidden horse’ from stall 7.

He was the ‘moral’ when runner-up, giving weight, to Crack On Crack On in the Haydock Silver Bowl, a big winner since and now rated 98

GODSEND IS CUMANI NOT GOSDEN

2.25 Goodwood (Lillie Langtry Stakes) The low six stalls have won the last nine out of 10. Three-year-olds have scored just once in nine seasons and there’s no Simple Verse among these that we know of.

Pilaster’s impressive Kempton romp was boosted when the six-lengths runner-up Galmarley won a handicap at Newbury.

But is that good enough against the four-year-old late developer God Given, who has twice won a Group 3 and missed out on the Group-2 Lancashire Oaks by a neck.

Well behind in that Haydock race was Flattering, who is back to represent the three-year-olds here.

The third filly home that day was John Gosden’s Precious Ramotswe, who is now tried in blinkers.

Marcus Tregoning, who went close on his local track with Imphal yesterday, will have Dance The Dream prepared for this, but the gods of racing have given Luca Cumani a big chance.

BRIGHT CHANCE TO SHINE AT 11.0

3.00 Goodwood (Richmond Stakes) Four at the front of the BETDAQ market offered in a parameter of 0.9 from 5.5 to 6.4. Open race or what!

On a line through Van Beethoven, Land Force and Marie’s Diamond are neck and neck, just clear of Konchek.

Sabre belongs in the market’s front four, a head in front of Konchek at Sandown, but Soldier’s Call, who beat Sabre at Ascot, let the form down here at Goodwood yesterday.

Shine So Bright is well behind Konchek on a line through Advertise but took in two quick races and a trainer change in June, when noted as ‘leggy’ and ‘greeb.’

With the front of the market all of a heap, Shine might be a dazzler under yesterday’s hero, Oisin Murphy, at 11.0 on BETDAQ as I write.

FOX HAS FORM TO WIN THE NASSAU

3.35 Goodwood (Nassau Stakes) Goodwood yesterday saw more egg on the face of the three-year-old colts, Without Parole and Expert Eye both beaten by a seven-year-old. Future hopes are now pinned on the fillies.

Alpha Centauri waits for Leopardstown next month but today’s Nassau Stakes is split three-three between the Classic-season ‘girls’ and the older fillies.

Veracious might have won the 1,000 Guineas but for a setback and she was in front of the actual winner, Billesdon Brook, when Alpha Centauri waltzed by the in the Coronation Stakes.

Urban Fox has already trounced the three-year-old Forever Together, who was a neck behind her stablemate Sea Of Class in the Irish Oaks.

Rhododendron’s dam won the Nassau 10 years ago but the Ballydoyle horses are under a cloud: 003040 at Goodwood this week, with Fantasy and Gustav Klimt both running out of gas at the business end yesterday, always a bad sign.

Veracious is expected to make abnormal progress from Ascot but Urban Fox is the improver among the older fillies. I have 10 points Veracious from my Fortune Cookies so the on-the-day bet is Urban Fox (4.2).

4.35 Galway Hurdle Aged six or seven (9 out of 10), rated 135 to 145 (7 out of 8). These stats might help us focus. But, after Clarcam made virtually all yesterday at 33-1, we are a little lacking in confidence.

Mark Enright had just won the mares’ handicap (with a reserve!) at 33-1 so Clarcam was completing a double of more than 1,000-1.

Now here he is on Plinth, a Graded winner at this t rip just over a year ago but failing to follow up, only eighth in today’s race and another year older.

Plinth’s stablemate, Tigris River, won it last year but has 4lb more now, and Barry Geraghty switches to Le Richebourg (BETDAQ 12.0), who has won twice after a break and was a novice hurdle winner at this meeting last season.

Another dark horse is 22.0 outsider Leoncavallo, who landed a four-timer in 2015 and was fifth in the 2016 Triumph Hurdle.

Trotted up first run for Dr Richard Newland, with Sam Twiston Davies booked for that job and this one!
