DAQMAN GOES CHRISTMAS CRACKERS WITH NAPS: DAQMAN is a on a pre-Christmas NAPS spree. Tuesday’s NAP ASPIRANT WON 9/4 following on from Tuesday’s beauty WHITE DIAMOND (NAP) WON 7/1. What else can he unwrap with just four racing days before Christmas?

OUTSIDER OF THE DAY PLACES AT 9/1: Understory lands a piece of the action too finishing third at 9/1.

It was great to land a winning NAP on an important night for BETDAQ who sponsored five of the races at Kempton last night.

The nap was Aspirant who made all the running to win the seller comfortably by 2 1/4 lengths at 9/4.

After a 7/1 winning nap on Tuesday the pressure is on for the hat-trick !

Elsewhere on the Kempton card my outsider of the day, Understory, took third at 9/1 in the competitive £500 Free Bets At Betdaq Handicap.

The big race on the card was the Betdaq – The Sports Betting Exchange Handicap, and worth over £37,000 to the winner. The race was originally due to be run last week but the meeting was abandoned due to fog.

So it was run in extra time and how appropriate that it went to Sir Alex Ferguson who owns I’m Fraam Govan.

The 9/2 joint-favourite overcame a troubled passage to win the 11 furlong contest.

Winning trainer George Baker commented: “I am absolutely delighted. He promised to be quite good as a bumper horse. We ran him in the Cheltenham bumper and went there full of hope but I think he does not quite stay that sort of trip.

“Bringing him to the Flat has worked out fantastically and I think he has shown that today. He is a big horse and got stopped in his run two and a half furlongs out but still managed to get going again and win pretty easily.

“He is an exciting prospect for Sir Alex and it is great fun for us to be training a good one for him.

“When the horse won round Kempton two months ago, it made sense to protect his mark and go for this £60,000 prize. It was meant to be run last week until it got fogged off but luckily it has all come good today.

Today racing goes ahead at all venues despite the dreadful weather overnight. Conditions have changed most noticeably at Exeter, where after 29mm of overnight rain, the going is now ‘soft’.

One horse I can’t be backing today is Grandest in the opener at Southwell at around 1.51. A lay is on order here with so little downside. Yes, he is a John Gosden trained runner. Yes, he showed promise on debut at Newmarket when fifth, but until he has tried the unique surface that is Southwell I couldn’t contemplate backing him at that price. You can speculate he will handle it. But speculating and odds of 1.51 don’t go together in my book.

Kempton was kind to me last night and I’m back there tonight for the all important NAP. You couldn’t fail to have been impressed by Grey Mirage’s latest C&D win when he made all to win by six lengths. He should have too much in hand at the same level tonight. Mont Ras is a danger on ratings but is making his all-weather debut after a break.

DAQMAN’S BETS:
LAY to win 10pts GRANDEST (12.00 Southwell)
BET 5pts win (nap) GREY MIRAGE (7.00 Kempton)
BET 1pt win and place TRIPLE CHOCOLATE (7.30 Kempton)
