NOW A 7-2 HIT FOR WINNER-A-DAY DAQMAN: Success for Lady Dancealot (WON 7-2) yesterday means that Daqman has landed a winner every day this week so far, right on the brink of the Newmarket Cambridgeshire meeting. His winners from Monday to Wednesday:

WON 7-2 LADY DANCEALOT (Wednesday)
WON 3-1 GEMINI (Tuesday)
WON 4-6 FARO ANGEL (Monday supernap)

HAVE A HANDICAP PUNT: THAT’S THE DRILL: The Cambridgeshire meeting, featuring some hot two-year-old trials starts today. Hard to choose among them at this stage. Pricewise shies away from having any bet at all but Daqman knows the Drill for a handicap punt!

LOOK FOR ANOTHER LION HEART

You Never Can Tell. We’re back on the Rowley Mile, where the 2018 Flat all began in May with two Guineas winners that never scored again, nor ever will: Saxon Warrior (retired after five consecutive defeats) and the double flop Billesdon Brook.

Yet the fifth in the 2,000 (Roaring Lion), who came to fame a year ago at this Newmarket meeting, and the runner-up in the 1,000 (Laurens) would become stars of their generation.

The weekend’s juvenile trials starting today – even the backend fields of two-year-old maidens – are worth watching. You never know what’s lurking (among the also-rans as well as the winners) and you should start compiling your Fortune Cookies for 2019 right now.

The Richard Spencer colt You Never Can Tell provides one of the first links in the collateral-form jigsaw of juvenile tests, having been fourth at Doncaster two weeks ago to Saturday’s Dewhurst contender Sangarius.

Saturday opens with the Royal Lodge Stakes, won last year by Roaring Lion and, seven years earlier, by Frankel.

The Royal Lodge is the first of a treble of Newmarket two-year-old tests on Saturday, also featuring the Cheveley Park Stakes and the Middle Park.

1.50 Newmarket Constantinople is brother to Bondi Beach, and could be a guideline to the Ballydoyle team, as with any one of his three to the Gosden empire: newcomers Humanitarian and Travel On, or the once-raced Kick On.

Magic Illusion is a Dubawi, so anything he does now is a bonus that could mark him down for the big time next season.

3.35 Newmarket (Somerville Tattersall Stakes) The 2.6m-guinea yearling Prince Eiji is another Dubawi who has already scored at Ascot and the morning BETDAQ market had him neck and neck with Cardini, fourth in the Champagne Stakes to Gosden’s Too Darn Hot.

This Somerville Tattersall produced Mark Johnston’s 2,000 Guineas fourth Elarqam last year, but it’s been farmed for the last nine seasons by Team Hannon (4-9 since 2009).

So the handy Goodwood winner, Floating Artist, literally bogged down at Haydock on the last day, might be worth a pound at 8.4 on BETDAQ this morning.

DIVA PICK OF BETDAQ MARKET

3.00 Newmarket This 7f fillies’ handicap went to a three-year-old lightweight when it was launched last year, and second-season ‘girls’ could dominate again.

Choco Box had to canter over three opponents at Yarmouth if she would stand a chance here. She did.

But she has to give 10lb to Dixieland Diva (big at 16.5 on BETDAQ), whose career also got under way with a small-field stroll three weeks back.

4.10 Newmarket (Rose Bowl) John Gosden, who has won four of the last six Rose Bowls, fields Ben Vrackie, a disappointing flop for me at the Leger meeting.

He could bounce back but has two solid old boys ahead of him in the morning BETDAQ market, Sheikhzayedroad and Nearly Caught.

The Sheikh hasn’t won a race for two years but Nearly Caught is still capable. Has his ground and Ryan Moore up at 3.85 on BETDAQ as I write.

4.45 Newmarket Torcello and Frontiersman have won this, suggesting a three-year-old of some substance and stamina is required.

Byron Flyer and Star of The East renew rivalry at 1-1 but I fancy they may have difficulty giving 10lb to Drill, a 3.55 BETDAQ offer early mouse in a big-value orange (105% overround).

DAQMAN’S BETS (each staked to win 20 points)
BET 4.5pts win CHOCO BOX, and 1.25pts win and place DIXIELAND DIVA (3.00 Newmarket)
BET 2.75pts win and place FLOATING ARTIST and 2pts win (stakes saver) PRINCE EIJI (3.35 Newmarket)
BET 7pts win NEARLY CAUGHT (4.10 Newmarket)
BET 7.75pts win (nap) DRILL (4.45 Newmarket)
