15.0, 20.0 AND 22.0 BETDAQ PLACES! Thanks to the gamble True Love, Daqman finished marginally in front yesterday to take his Royal Ascot profit to 95.14 points from six winning bets over the two days, but it was so near and yet so far with outsiders at 15.0 and 20.0 both placed. His Royal Hunt Cup 1-2-3 contained My Cloud (WON 3-1) and Greek Order (4th 22-1).
Royal Ascot Wednesday
WON 9-4 TRUE LOVE
WON (w/p 3rd 11-2) LENNILU (15.0 taken on BETDAQ
WON (w/p 2nd 20-1) FURTHER
Royal Ascot Tuesday
WON 8-1 HAATEM (10.0 taken on BETDAQ)
WON 7-2 GSTAAD (supernap)
WON 8-11 FIELD OF GOLD (Fortune Cookie)
TODAY’S NAP: DAQMAN reckons Trefor (3.50 Ripon) could be another strong sprinting son of Invincible Army, like one of his favourites, James’ Delight, who runs in the Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on Saturday.
BREEZE-UP BOYS ARE BEST
🎩 2.30 Royal Ascot (Norfolk Stakes) Fast and loose with the ground! Punters should be aware of a change of going at Ascot hidden behind the same track return for both days of ‘good to firm’; in fact, five races on Tuesday were run slower than average, whereas yesterday five were declared ‘fast.’
The three sprint finishes so far have produced six placed out of stalls 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 (twice)!
Charles Darwin (15) has an obvious chance in this opener but I’m tempted to the fast-trapping breeze-up buys, First Legion (500,000gns) out of 13 and Naval Light (360,000gns) for last year’s winning stable of Karl Burke (near-30% strike-rate with juveniles).
They were offered 8.9 and 23.0 on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this morning
MINE’S A DAIQUIRI AT 31.0
🎩 3.05 Royal Ascot (King George V Handicap) LAYS LOGIC: No outright favourite has won in 15 years. Is the O’Brien-Moore team a Serious Contender? Ballydoyle has won it only once (2019), a 22-1 outsider ridden by Seamie Heffernan.
I expected to see Rossa Ryan on Lightening Mann, whose London Gold Cup second suggested today’s step up in trip would suit.
But Ryan is with a resurgent Alan King – nice win together with Brioni last week – on the promising and very lightly raced Daiquiri Bay, whose dam won over 2m. BETDAQ 31.0 (4 places place 4.0)
Lightening Mann beat Merchant at Newmarket (1m 2f) before that one won over 1m 4f at York. The fourth horse that day, Pantile Warrior, kept on and is now better off at the weights. Betdaq Betting Exchange 49.0.
GRACES AND FAVOUR 41.0
🎩 3.40 Royal Ascot (Ribblesdale Stakes) Paddy Twomey (Catalina Delcarpio at 4.8) has had a winner and third here this week, both well backed; Carmers won 9-2 and Rogue Legend 3rd 4-1.
Henry De Bromhead (Hollys Graces at 41.0 and 7.0 a place) has had two runners in England in the last four days: Town And Country won 5-2 and 20-1 Ascot scorer yesterday, Ascending.
GOLD: CANDEL IN THE WIND
🎩 4.20 Royal Ascot (Gold Cup) The stats say this is a smaller field than you think: there have been only two winners aged seven and over – in 1929 and in 2008-9 (same horse) – and only last year’s runner-up, Trawlerman (top rated among them on 118), can be considered against the new kids on the block.
Stradivarius and Kyprios, who together were dominant for seven years, both won their first ‘gold’ when aged four.
This year’s pair of that age, Illinois and Candelari, are already rated 116 and 118, and normal improvement should now take them into a duel for the title, with firmish ground also against old limbs.
1: CANDELARI By Frankel out of a Barathea mare, 4-5 and already a Group-1 scorer over last year’s Gladiateur winner and Arc fifth, Sevenna’s Knight.
Leading the French-trainers’ table with 76 winners, her handler, Francis-Henri Graffard, is looking to make up for the disappointment with Map Of Stars yesterday (drifted badly in the market).
2: ILLINOIS This Queen’s Vase winner would give Aidan O’Brien a 10th Gold Cup; Ryan Moore will probably take him to the front from the one stall.
3: TRAWLERMAN Beaten a length by Kyprios in this last year, with Sweet William third, and could take his mantle if the four-year-olds are not up to scratch
KEANE ON BRAVE MISSION
🎩 5.00 Royal Ascot (Britannia Handicap) 13 winners out of the last 15 came from double-figure stalls and yesterday’s mile races went to 13 (from 20 and 23 placed) and 32 in the Hunt Cup.
Around 9st 3lb is the bar unless there’s something special lurking; that and the low draw seems to rule out Consolidation and lean toward stablemate Brave Mission (Colin Keane). BETDAQ 9.7 taken
Harry Eustace won this with Queene Anne winner Docklands in 2023 and layers will be nervous that La Botte is of similar latent quality after his May fourth at Newmarket. BETDAQ 10.0.
La Botte raced wide and the winner that day, Cosmic Year, went on to finish second to the powerhouse Field Of Gold in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
Hat-trick hero Teroomm was backed this morning (but still 12.0 on BETDAQ at the time of writing). Roger Varian and Silvestre De Sousa took the Hunt Cup yesterday with My Cloud.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
