TIPPING LION DAQMAN LEAPS ON 14TH RETURN: Daqman made it 10 consecutive days with a winner – 14 returns in all – but it was an expensive day to get Lyrica’s Lion (WON 2-1) home by a neck after Steeve (3rd 10-1) just failed to grind it out in the nursery on the same Nottingham card.

NINETEEN LEFT IN THE ARC: Here’s Daqman’s ABC guide to Sunday’s Arc de Triomphe, after 19 were declared at the latest stage. Cracksman misses the race and is set to finish his career by defending his crown in the Qipco Champion Stakes.

LOOKING FOR ‘LEGS’ 11: There are no Flat turf cards today but Daqman has to make do with what he’s given, if he is to chalk up 11 days in a row with a winner.

C 1m 4f winner (88%)
D Drawn in 1-8 stalls (75%)
E Won last time out (68%)
X Stable in form

ABCDEX Enable

The sensation of 2017 with seven wins in a row, soaring 44lb in the ratings, and taking four Oaks, the King George and the Arc in her majestic stride.

‘Awesome’ return to form at Kempton last month (quote unquote jockey Frankie Dettori) and odds on to follow another filly, Treve (2013-14), and land back-to-back Arcs, though last year’s was at Chantilly and she has never been to Longchamp.

ABCEX Kew Gardens

Down the field in the Epsom Derby but steady improvement stepped up in trip, as winner of the Queen’s Vase, Grand Prix de Paris and Doncaster St Leger. Travels well; stays well.

ABCEX Sea Of Class

Not seen until this year and steady improvement at 1m 2f became a surge to the top as she stepped up to 12 furlongs and landed the Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks impressively. Sire won the Arc.

ABCE Waldgeist

Competitive in 12 successive Group starts, only once out of the first four. A criterium winner as a juvenile, then runner-up in the French Derby at three. Better than ever this term, landing four in a row, including two Grand Prix races – Chantilly and Saint-cloud – and the Prix Foy Arc trial over the Longchamp CD.

ABCDX Capri

Winner of £1.25m, taking last year’s Irish Derby and Doncaster St Leger. Down the field in the 2017 Arc and quiet this season.

AB Study Of Man

Prix Greffulhe and French Derby winner, fifth in the Irish Champion Stakes. Firm ground a disadvantage.

ACX Defoe

Four in a row last season up to Group-3 level, then the grey got himself a small-field Group 2 in the Spring. Placed in Group-1 bids three months apart when heavily backed in the summer. Not won with ‘firm’ in the going return.

AC Neufbosc

Stepped up from Listed to Group 3 both over 1m 4f but both with ‘soft’ in the going return. Beaten on sounder surface since at higher level, including second to Kew Gardens in the Grand Prix de Paris.

AX Hunting Horn

Chester Vase third and French Derby sixth, but stepped up on that when encountering fast ground in Group 3 at Royal Ascot (1m 2f). Kept to 10 furlongs in America but short-headed in the Prix Niel Arc trial, tried again at 1m 4f.

AX Magical

Winner on firm over 1m 1f, beaten twice by Laurens: in the Fillies Mile last October and the Matron Stakes on the last day. That and her constant 111 rating suggests that she is static and not improving.

ADX Nelson

Pacemaker four times in a row for Kew Gardens, with his stablemate winning three of them.

ADX Salouen

Not won since 1m in juvenile days but always in first four in six consecutive races, including head defeat by Cracksman (Coronation Cup) and a little more than a length by Waldgeist (Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud), both over 1m 4f

AD Clincher

Sole success was 1m 3f Group 2 (yielding) in Kyoto, and close second there over 2m (firm), but last of six in Prix Foy Arc trial here at Longchamp behind Waldgeist: tried to make all, headed a furlong out. Should be wiser for that.

A Louis d’Or

Lightly raced and placed nine times but just a single success (7.5f AW). Best effort when third in the French Derby (1m 2.5f soft), though 66-1 SP and previous last of 11 in the French Guineas suggest that we should treat it with a pinch of salt.

AD Patascoy

Never out of the first four in eight starts, runner-up in the French Derby, reversing the placings with the winner when they were second and third at Deauville afterwards in a Group 2.

BCX Way To Paris

A nearly horse placed 12 times but no success since April 2017 in a modest Listed at San Siro. Beaten by Waldgeist in three consecutive starts, including when fourth in the Prix Foy Arc trial on the last day.

BCD Talismanic

Placed 16 times including eight wins, among them Breeders Cup Turf last November (1m 4f firm), with Highland Reel third, and then second to the same horse in the Hong Kong Vase. Winner twice this year and runner-up to his stablemate Waldgeist in Prix Foy Arc trial.

B Cloth Of Stars

Arc runner-up last season, giving 10lb to the winner, but beaten successively this year by Talismanic, Cracksman and Waldgeist (three times) in five different races, mainly at 1m 4f.

CD Tiberian

Group 2 and 3 (twice) winner, mainly on good ground over 1m 4f, but failed to break into Group 1 and not reach frame behind Waldgeist twice including here over the Arc trip.

FEARLESS BECKETT IS ON FIRE

3.25 Lingfield Ralph Beckett has landed 10 winners from 33 runners in a fortnight and, notably for us saddled with picking the winner of this nursery, four of them were two-year-olds.

Camelots improve with racing and Fox Fearless will be a better animal next year. However, his steady progress in three runs give him this lowly handicap mark (he’s got plenty of weight but that’s because we’re in a class 4), and Silvestre De Sousa has won on his last four rides for the yard.

Sophosc has scored back to back, but that’s cost him a massive 20lb hike, and just minor adjustment to the rating for So Hi Class lost him the money on the last day; he already looks exposed.

Team Hannon sent Kempton winner Sweet Pearl on a tough mission to win the May Hill. They must have thought something special about her, but she ran so badly we need to see her run again before investing in her. Saver in case she bounces back but 6.2 offers are negative.

‘SEE’ OFF WARWICK FAVOURITE

4.55 Warwick Solesauvage is described by her trainer as ‘a very tricky mare’, so all credit to Sophie Leech’s team for getting the win out of her at Uttoxeter just 11 days ago.

I wouldn’t put my money on such a character as favourite to strike again so soon with the penalty, though Solstalla and Hermanus were both behind her that day.

Milan Of Crystal is 11lb higher than when winning this last year and was in the rear when Solstalla scored at Worcester last month.

It all seems to add up to an invitation to Hoponandsee, who was hampered on the last day behind Kristal Hart, a winner since here at Warwick.

Hoponandsee had earlier had Kristal Hart well beaten off when scoring at Newton Abbot.

HERE’S ONE THAT CAN COAST IN

7.15 Chelmsford I used to pick Samphire on the wilder unspoilt beaches of my childhood: they charge a fortune for it now in the London hotels. ‘You missed your vocation’ comes the cry from the happy band of Daqman punters.

Thanks for that. I always try to do better but look what they gave me today! Sand monkeys.. Or rather, two helpings of Polytrack pudding.

In fact, Samphire Coast loves the surface. He has won four times over this CD and, following a run back recently after a break, could be ready to resume the sequence at 9.6 on BETDAQ this morning.

Rampant Lion’s success came on the soft on turf, and he’s drawn high. Fortune And Glory’s AW form is solely at Kempton, and his stable is striking (or rather not striking) at 0% (0-14) in the last fortnight.

The placed horses in Quality Seeker’s Windsor success have been beaten a total of 117 lengths in seven races since.
