INTERNATIONAL SHOCK AS ST MARK’S BASILICA IS SIDELINED: Today’s Daqman begins with the news that St Mark’s Basilica will miss the Juddmonte International at York, after a cut sustained in training. Here’s how that leaves the new Fortune Cookies listing with engagements.

IT’S A LOVE MATCH FOR MISHRIFF

FORTUNE COOKIES: Alenquer becomes Fortune Cookies sole representative in the Juddmonte International tomorrow after a gallops incident has left St Mark’s Basilica with an infected leg.

His defection prompts Ballydoyle to switch last year’s Yorkshire Oaks winner, Love, to take on the Juddmonte favourite, Mishriff and, in Love’s absence, stablemate Snowfall will be long odds on for the Yorkshire Oaks.

Revised ratings for the International are:124 Mishriff, 120 Love (3lb allowance), 119 Alcohol Free (10lb), 118 Mac Swiney (7lb), 113 Juan Alcano, 112 Mohaafeth (7lb), 110 Alenquer (7lb).

127 ST MARK’S BASILICA (Aidan O’Brien) absent with infected leg.
125 ADDEYBB (William Haggas): Irish Champion Stakes, Leopardstown, September 11; Champion Stakes, Ascot, October 16.
125 PALACE PIER (Team Gosden): British Champions Mile, Ascot, October 16
120 AL AASY (William Haggas): British Champions Middle Distance, Ascot, October 16.
120 SNOWFALL (Aidan O’Brien): Yorkshire Oaks, Thursday
118 ORDER OF AUSTRALIA (Aidan O’Brien) closed down Palace Pier by four lengths between Royal Ascot and Deauville. A Group 2 beckons at Doncaster or Leopardstown on September 11, wherever the ground is riding on top.
117 WONDERFUL TONIGHT (David Menuisier): Yorkshire Oaks, Thursday (needs rain), or Prix Pomone, Deauville, Sunday.
116 REAL WORLD (Saeed Bin Surror): Celebration Mile, Goodwood, August 28
114 GLASS SLIPPERS (Kevin Ryan): Flying Five, Curragh, September 12
110 ALENQUER (William Haggas): Juddmonte International, York, tomorrow.
110 LONEQASH (Roger Varian): Second in the Hungerford, despite losing a shoe. Still unexposed after four starts.
108 QUICK SUZY (Gavin Cromwell): Prix Morny, Deauville, Sunday.
108 SACRED (William Haggas): Smooth Hungerford success but City of York may come too soon on Saturday, so the Park Stakes at Doncaster, September 11.
108 PERFECT POWER (Richard Fahey): Gimcrack Stakes, York, Friday
—- GOLDEN PAL (Wesley Ward): Breeders Cup Juvenile Sprint winner returned with a win, eased down, at Saratoga last month. Nunthorpe Stakes, York, Thursday.
—- HISTORY (2yo, Aidan O’Brien): Moyglare, Curragh, Sunday, September 12

BOOGIE’S HAT-TRICK DANCE

⭕ 6.25 Leicester There’s been plenty of discussion over the last 24 hours on the current small fields problem leading to plenty subscribing to the ‘too much racing’ side of the debate.

Another example here at Leicester where just four go to post for this class four handicap over six furlongs but it does also throw up the nap of the day for me in Boogie Time in what is a competitive BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE market despite the field size.

Karl Burke’s runner is partnered by Tom Marquand for the first time and bids for a quick hat-trick tonight after wins at Doncaster and Nottingham where he has made all the running.

The form of his Nottingham win earlier this month was franked when the runner-up Silent Flame came out to win next time out at Salisbury.

A further 4lb hike in the weights is obviously a concern but he’s in good heart and Marquand will hopefully keep things simple from the front.

Water Of Leith is fairly easy to discount given his form has tailed off and he is looking exposed and the main dangers are likely to come from the progressive pair Hello Zabeel and Dulla Bhatti.

Both are making their handicap debuts – narrow preference would be for Hello Zabeel who was a course and distance runner-up last month.

DRIFTERS CAN WIN

⭕ 6.55 Leicester Zuhair has taken quite a dramatic slide in the morning market but has now reached a very backable price.

The Marcus Tregoning trained three-year-old comes into this on the back of wins at Nottingham and Ffos Las and doesn’t look over burdened with a starting handicap mark of 82.

Maybe the early offers were just two skinny and the market has reacted accordingly? Layers will take hope from the fact he is stepping up in class – backers from the fact he remains progressive.

I certainly think he has more scope than morning favourite Urban War who has gone up in the weights for his recent second at Catterick whereas he probably needs to be heading the other way in the handcap>

WORD OUT FOR POET

⭕ 7.35 Carlisle Poet’s Magic has won twice this season and despite being a beaten favourite at Epsom last time out ran another sound race when runner-up to Improvised.

It’s quite possible the slower ground went against him at Epsom and the return to good ground tonight might be preferable.

Tommy Taylor joins the in-form Grant Tuer yard from Ireland where his last run was disappointing but he looks the danger if revitalised for move.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 10 points)
BET 6.25pts win (nap) BOOGIE TIME (6.25 Leicester)
BET 3.1pts win ZUHAIR (6.55 Leicester)
BET 2.3pts win POET’S MAGIC (7.35 Carlisle)

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
