TODAY’S GROUND FOR CONCERN

2.30 Sedgefield Irish raider Thosedaysaregone is a strong favourite against some modest rivals but we need to stress the caveat of the ground.

This is the quickest the Charles Byrnes trained runner has encountered and being asked to take around evens on BETDAQ you don’t really need to be taking that chance.

His main dangers Sonic and Icefall don’t look the most resolute in the finish, particularly the latter who seemed to take an age to get going at Hexham last time out (when fav) before staying on through beaten horses to take second without ever looking like threatening the winner.

Sonic made all to win at Uttoxeter before finding Captain Peacock too good in a four runner race at Bangor.

I think the play in the race is a place on Ballyfarsoon whose jumps debut second at Aintree doesn’t read that bad in the context of this race.

We know from the flat he likes the fast ground and at around 3.0 for a place (3 places, 8 runners) makes plenty of appeal.

2.40 Ayr The Scottish track stage a workaday card today – eight races and all handicaps. Lack of variety being disappointing.

That said, the 1m 7f event at 2.40 throws up a bet in the shape of course specialist Buonarroti who was only beaten in a three way photo here last time out.

Question Of Faith won this a year ago but is now running off a mark 12lb higher and has to bounce back from a poor effort at Catterick last time out when last of seven.

A bigger danger might be Dubai Frame who is proving himself to be a resolute stayer with his first win coming on the all-weather at Lingfield last time out. He’s unproven though on today’s ground.

4.00 Southwell As the BETDAQ market points to, this should concern Itchy Feet and Panko – it’s 25 bar the pair.

Preference is for Itchy Feet who looked really good when winning a Stratford bumper by 14 lengths and may just have more scope than Panko who was a creditable second on hurdles debut (also at Straford on the same day).

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 20 points except SUPERNAP)
BET 10pts place BALLYFARSOON (2.30 Sedgefield)
BET 6.1pts win BUONARROTI (2.40 Ayr)
SUPERNAP BET 20pts win ITCHY FEET (4.00 Southwell)
