4/5 WINNER OF THE NATIONAL IS SOMEWHERE IN DAQMAN STATS LIST: Have the top weights, including Tiger Roll, got a fair deal from the handicapper in the Grand National? Daqman gives his verdict and also picks a stats list which would have trapped eight of the last 10 winners.

AINTREE HANDICAPPER ROLLS OVER..

Fair’s fair! Bristol De Mai, Presenting Percy and Tiger Roll have all been allowed 2lb off their current mark for the Aintree Grand National and Tiger Roll is down 4lb on the weight accepted by his connections for last year, had it been run.

The highest-weighted horses in the race, plus revisions for previous runners, are listed below: current mark on the left; Grand National rating extreme right, with any previous weights for the race in between (2020 abandoned race is in parentheses).

169 Bristol De Mai 167 Gifted 2lb below his current rating
168 Presenting Percy 166 Gifted 2lb below his current rating
168 Tiger Roll 150>159>(170)<166 Gifted 2lb below his current mark and 4lb below his rating for last year’s (abandoned) race. Previous winner off 150 and 159.
167 Easysland 167
167 Santini 167
165 The Storyteller 165
155 Magic Of Light 151>(158)<156 She is up a pound on her current mark but 2lb below her rating for last year’s National (abandoned) race. Runner-up in 2019 off 151.
150 Anibale Fly 159>164<(162)<155 He’s 4lb below his rating when fourth in 2018 and 9lb below his mark when fifth in 2019. Now 7lb less than he would have carried last year but 5lb higher than his current assessment.
148 Vieux Lion Rouge 150<146<(142)>148 Sixth, ninth and 15th, bidding to get round a fourth time.

SAINT’S A LIVE 20-1 NATIONAL BET

⭕ 5.15 Aintree, Saturday, April 10 (Grand National) 105 entries remain, 43 Irish trained and two from France but the stats suggest that the winner is somewhere in the list below.

They are horses within the parameters of 160 rated and 148 which has produced eight of the last 10 winners of the Grand National. Burrows Saint, who was 21.0 last time I checked when the BETDAQ Sportsbook was open.

160 YALA ENKI (Paul Nicholls) Third twice Coral Welsh Grand National
157 LAKE VIEW LAD (Nick Alexander) Beat Santini, Many Clouds Chase, Aintree
156 AJAS (David Cottin) Won Grand Prix de Pau in January (3m 2.5f)
156 BURROWS SAINT (Willie Mullins) Won the Irish Grand National (2019)
155 ACAPELLA BOURGEOIS (Willie Mullins) Third Irish Grand National (2019)
153 KIMBERLITE CANDY (Tom Lacey) Twice second Becher Chase at Aintree
156 MAGIC OF LIGHT (Jessica Harrington) Second 2019. Mares Graded winner

NOT LETTING NAP SLIPAWAY

⭕ 2.30 Hereford The Ben Pauling trained Slipway has been quite highly tried in his three starts to date at Chepstow, Aintree and Kempton but has improved on each occasion and there was distinct promise from his latest effort at Kempton where he was stepped up to a similar trip and finished third in a decent class 3.

The winner that day was Barbados Buck’s who was completing his hat-trick and is Cheltenham bound – it looked a much better contest than today’s class 4.

I think the form looks solid in a race where there are question marks about his main rivals. Sylvies Dance makes her rules debut having shown promise in points but hasn’t raced for over a year and Equus Dreamer showed promise on rules debut but it came over a much shorter trip.

SWITCH THE POWER ON

⭕ 5.15 Kempton Another marathon nine race card at the Sunbury venue this evening which looks workaday with the exception of this class 2 handicap over six furlongs.

Daqman favourite Brian The Snail goes again. We’ve been on him for his last two wins at 14/1 and last time out at 3/1 but he has nudged up the weights with his (now) triple figure rating and might finally be in the grip of the handicapper. He’s never far away though and from his last five starts he has won twice (both times by a short head) and been beaten a length or less in his other three races.

‘Brian’ beat tonight’s likely BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE favourite Premier Power over course and distance in December but on a full 5lb better terms there’s every chance that short head margin will be overturned.

Premier Power is back after a 60 day break which actually might suit the Roger Varian trained runner who is lightly raced and won previously after a 322 day break.

Tinto is a class dropper having contested a class 1 at Lingfield last time out but he’s not the most trustworthy. His only career win on the all-weather came over course and distance in 2018 but that was at class 4 level.

PAVING THE WAY ….

⭕ 8.20 Kempton Another six furlong event for the closer and the trip might suit Vitesse Du Son who drops back in distance having tried to make all at Wolverhampton last time out but getting overhauled by easy winner Eldelbar and runner-up Rockesbury close home.

He looks a little short for my money though and preference is for Krazy Paving who has been revitalised by the blinkers going back on and who goes well for 7lb claimer Callum Hutchinson.

There’s been early money for Tyger Bay who takes a big drop back in trip having contested 10 furlongs at Lingfield last time out. There’s little encouragement from the form book. His two tries over this course and distance resulted in him beating only one horse home on both occasions.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 10 points)
BET 5.0pts win (nap) SLIPWAY (2.30 Hereford)
BET 3.6pts win PREMIER POWER (5.15 Kempton)
BET 3.5pts win KRAZY PAVING (8.20 Kempton)

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
