CHELTENHAM TOP RATINGS AND A 12.0 TRUMP CARD: Daqman steals more ante-post prices as big-race plans for the Cheltenham Festival take shape at the top two rival English stables of Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls, producing a BETDAQ bet at 18.0 and a 12.0 Trump card. Plus Day Two of how Daqman’s top ratings work out in the non-handicaps.

FORTUNE COOKIES: Verdana Blue (6.30 Kempton)

ADJALI GOOD BETDAQ BET: 18.0

Put your money where your mouth is. I warned you on Sunday – (‘Triumph: Don’t Reject Adjali’) – that Nicky Henderson’s Triumph Trial flop was far better than that, a jolly good bet according to my man in the long grass.

Then last night, Henderson himself reported Adjali ‘bang on course’ for the Triumph. ‘I don’t know what happened to him on the last day but that was a good piece of work this morning, so it couldn’t have been him in the Trial.’

I jumped in for the 18.0 in the BETDAQ orange, knowing that i have a Fortune Cookie in the race, Sir Erec. It’s my Triumph!

Getaway Trump, only a couple of lengths off Champ in the Challow Hurdle, wasn’t put into the race until running on at the finish.

He would have that bit further, and the hill finish, in the Ballymore, but BETDAQ punters won’t touch him at a big price (around 23.0). Why?

The answer is that Paul Nicholls announced last night that he prefers the Coral Cup. As word got out, I grabbed some 12-1 with Corals and Ladbrokes. He’ll be a BETDAQ place banker for me on the day.

SUPERNAP POPS THE CORK

1.20 Wincanton Nicky Henderson couldn’t have his string in much better form as we move inside the two week countdown mark to Cheltenham.

He is running at a strike-rate of 8 winners from 19 runners in the last two weeks and an astonishing 14/19 (or 73%) placed.

He can boost those stats even further at Wincanton this afternoon with Champagne Mystery who should be suited by both the better ground and step up in trip.

He was unlucky on his debut at Aintree when carried out by a loose horse and then failed by just half a length at Market Rasen last time out when keeping on well over a trip just north of two miles.

He’s up to 2m 5f this afternoon and should be able to see off Chez Hans who is penalised for what looked a fortunate victory at Leicester last time out when he was left clear when Reve fell two out. The odds on favourite that day, Loveherandleaveher, had already taken a tumble at the second so Chez Hans had very little to beat and will be doing mighty well to see off a penalty here.

7.30 Kempton Henderson should land an across the card (and across both codes) double with my Fortune Cookie (statutory 20 point win)  Verdana Blue in the 6.30pm. He will be prohibitively priced though – not surprising given he won the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle here on Boxing Day !!

The 7.30 looks much more competitive but Singing The Blues might be up for defying his penalty for his win at Wolverhampton last week.

Rod Millman is striking whilst the iron is hot and it’s not surprising given that he won with plenty in hand and the booking of Oisin Murphy is clearly a big positive.

8.30 Kempton A tricky seven furlong finale in which many of the runners are out of form.

That’s not the case with Viola Park who continues to run well and the double course and distance winner looks the pick.

He will hopefully get a good position from stall one and can see off the challenge of Rivas Rob Roy who has yet to win on the all-weather and whose only career win in 18 starts came on good to soft ground at Brighton.
