FOUR CONSECUTIVE NAPS AMONG 13 WINNERS IN FIVE DAYS: Daqman made it four worthy naps in a row with THIRTEEN winners in five days, including two supernaps. He regarded five-lengths Monday winner, Frankly Darling, and four-lengths star yesterday, Galsworthy, as terrific BETDAQ value at around even money, while punters were nervous of getting involved until the form settles down. ONLY KAMEKO IS GROUP-ONE RIVAL

3.35 Newmarket, Saturday (2,000 Guineas) My usual guide to the Guineas, an ABC check, runner by runner, based on the stats, is hardly likely to be relevant for the delayed 2020 Classic.

We are entirely dependent on two-year-old form; and ratings of past winners, largely built from the juvenile trials, show a huge range between average winners and champions.

Let’s look at the Group-race results. I leave you to choose from this list before Saturday (I’ve already nominated Kinross as my outsider).

Ratings are on the left, in order of best Group results. Only Kameko rivals Pinatubo in that respect.

128 PINATUBO (Charlie Appleby): Group 1 two; Group 2 one.

Unbeaten in six starts including Chesham, National Stakes and Dewhurst

118 KAMEKO (Andrew Balding): Group 1 one.

Second in the Royal Lodge; won the Futurity at Newcastle.

116 ARIZONA (Aidan O’Brien): Group 2 one (Fortune Cookie)

Won the Coventry; placed behind Pinatubo in National Stakes, Dewhurst

110 ROYAL DORNOCH (Aidan O’Brien) Group 2 one.

One-two with Kameko in the Royal Lodge Stakes.

114 WICHITA (Aidan O’Brien): Group 3 one

Won the Somerville Tattersall Stakes, third to Pinatubo in the Dewhurst.

113 MILITARY MARCH (Saeed Bin Suroor) Group 3 one

Won the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket.

102 KENZAI WARRIOR (Roger Teal) Group 3 one

Won the Horris Hill at Newbury.

115 MUM’S TIPPLE (Richard Hannon)

Won Sales race; behind Earthlight in the Middle Park.

112 AL SUHAIL (Charlie Appleby)

Third Solario Stakes, second to Military March in the Autumn Stakes.

105 KINROSS (Ralph Beckett) (Fortune Cookie)

Fifth to Kameko in the Futurity at Newcastle.

GOSDEN TO BE FIRST TURF WINNER

⭕ 12.45 Yarmouth We’re back on turf. And the King Power people will want to get straight into the winner’s enclosure with Group One Power.

Should currently be known as Novice Class-5 Power after his 2-2 on AW but trainer Andrew Balding struck with his first runner back yesterday.

Leading trainers on this course are John Gosden (Celestran) and Mark Johnston (Zabeel Champion); both have scored freely in the first two days of the season.

After running too green, third, when Naizagai was second at Newmarket, Celestran had a comfortable Wolver win in the autumn, boosted by success for the second and fourth. The firmish ground will suit and I took 4.3 on BETDAQ as a first position on the race.

Interesting that champion-jockey Oisin Murphy wants to keep the mount on his handy Newcastle winner of November, HMS President. Big at 11.0.

⭕ 3.05 Yarmouth Gosden again, and the Derby is among possible Group-1 entries for Enemy, another short shot worth a supernap vote.

PRIDE CAN PROVE OAKS CHANCE

2.45 Kempton (Classic Trial) Born With Pride has had William Haggas straining at the bit over the long winter and lockdown, convinced that he has an Oaks winner.

By Born To Sea out of a Monsun mare, she is closely related to stout middle-to-long distance types, notably Raheen House (1m 6f Listed and Group placed). Said to have really thrived and tasty at BETDAQ 3.45 to Fortune Cookie standard stake.

First two runners for the yard were beaten yesterday including a losing favourite at Kempton, and of course she is a filly against colts, notably John Gosden’s Hypothetical.

Hypothetical is by a French Derby winner out of a half-sister to a French 1,000 Guineas winner. Beat nothing well, clear on his Chelmsford debut.

Ralph Beckett does well with fillies but Charade retains the blinkers of her Newmarket success on the soft in October. His colt, Max Vega, didn’t have much substance as a two-year-old.

Bright Melody is the Godolphin hope but Beckett and Gosden both had lesser horses close up to him at Chelmsford in January. Berlin Tango is on a scouting mission for Kameko.

BETDAQ 13.5 ROMOLA LOOKS BIG

3.55 Kempton (Snowdrop Fillies Listed) James Fanshawe is top trainer in this but Audarya needs to have improved; liked an easy track last year and was runner-up too many times.

Double-figure draw doesn’t help her or the favourite Nazeef (three wins from four), and the Gosden stable will probably do better with Scentasia (five out of six), who is on a Listed hat-trick.

Billesden Brook lost her way after the 2018 Guineas but bounced back late last year and won the Sun Chariot. That’s costly, with a 7lb penalty.

Romola, from stall 6, doesn’t have the form in the book but is likely to improve for Sir Michael Stoute. Looks big at BETDAQ 13.5.

Agincourt has steadily gained ground (by 25lb) to this level but, like Billsedon Brook and Foxtrot Lady, is five now and that would buck the trend of 90% four-year-olds.
