FA CUP SEMI-FINAL: We preview Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final between CHELSEA v SOUTHAMPTON with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

3pm It’s funny how the fixture list throws things up sometimes – just last weekend these two played out a 3-2 thriller. Southampton were desperately in need of the points in the Premier League and had a 2-0 lead, only for Chelsea to comeback and win at the end of the game. That would have been a bitter blow to Southampton, especially given their situation in the Premier League, and while they may use that as fuel to attack this game – they might have bad memories too!
Chelsea are obviously big favourites given the way the sides have played this season. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Chelsea 1.51, Southampton 7.4 and the draw is 4.6. Chelsea haven’t been that good this season, ‘out of sorts’ might be the ideal term to describe them – however Southampton have performed well below par all season.
As we stand, they sit in the bottom three in the Premier League and it will be a tough battle for them to stay up. They can hardly put all their focus into the FA Cup too, with very important games coming up in the Premier League and the money on offer for staying up. They have played the Top Six 11 times this season, and lost eight of those games.
We feel that Chelsea are too big here at 1.51 – when the sides met last weekend, things could have barely gone better for Southampton for most of the game, however Chelsea still found a way to win. With a better start Chelsea can dominate this game and they look massive at 1.51. Their Premier League campaign is over, and FA Cup is all they have to play for – we expect Chelsea to be 100% focused and won’t take Southampton lightly after the scare last weekend. It might be worth backing Chelsea to cover the handicap too.
