LEICESTER V DERBY
7.45pm We have the only FA Cup replay from the fourth round to enjoy tonight as Derby travel to Leicester after their 2-2 draw last time out. We might enjoy it, but you can’t say that Leicester will be looking forward to it! They’re having a horrible season, and arrive here off the back of four straight defeats in the Premier League which has seen them slip down to 16th in the table. And with wins for Hull and Sunderland last weekend, and Swansea getting a few points lately too – they have been dragged into a relegation battle now, forcing the club to come out and declare their full support for Claudio Ranieri earlier in the week.
So with all that mind, confidence has to be low, and welcoming a local rival from a lower level can’t be their idea of fun! The reality of things is though, is that Derby aren’t that good. They currently sit in 8th position in the Championship, and while of course they are holding their own – when they have came up against the better sides, for example Newcastle last weekend, they have came up short.
However, this presents us with a problem from a betting point of view doesn’t it? Leicester are playing poorly and low on confidence, however they should still outclass this Derby side. But can you back Leicester at 2.12? We feel that you can’t – there are simply too many doubts about them at the moment to back such a short price, against a reasonably consistent side, if a level below them.
We’re going to stay away from the match odds market here though and look to the goals market for a bit of value. Over 2.5 goals is currently trading 2.22 and that looks big, especially considering we seen four goals between the sides recently – we all know Leicester have been struggling at the back this season and they’ve had over 2.5 goals in five of their last six matches, while Derby have seen over 2.5 in four of their last six.
