GAVIN CROMWELL: Our brand ambassador looks forward to his runners at Fairyhouse and Navan this weekend.

Saturday Fairyhouse

We get the weekend underway with Wolf Prince and Pretty Fantasy in the 3-Y-O maiden hurdle (12.30pm).

It doesn’t look the strongest of races so we’re hoping Wolf Prince goes there with a strong chance. He ran a nice race on his first start for us at Punchestown last month and with natural progression, you’d like to think he’ll be competitive here. If he can take that step forward, we think he should go pretty close.

Pretty Fantasy is our second string here. She will be up against it in maidens and we won’t see the best of her until she runs in handicap company.

We also run Jaunty Velocity in the handicap hurdle (2.50pm). The track and trip will suit her and she’s run well on her last couple of starts. She was sixth the last day at Punchestown but ran much better than the result suggested, so we’re hoping she can run well again here.

Sunday Navan

Our first runner on Sunday is Bread And Butter in the maiden hurdle (11.30pm). He hasn’t done an awful lot so far and he’s another who will be much better once he’s in handicaps.

Alfa Mix runs in the Grade B handicap hurdle (12.30pm). We’re stepping him up to two and a half miles for his first start in handicaps. We’re not quite sure where his run at Punchestown leaves him but the winner and the third have come out and won since so it might turn out to be a better race than we originally thought. We’re pitching him at the deep end being just a four-year-old, but we’ll know a lot more about him after this and whether this is his level or not.

The final runner of the weekend is Bentham who goes novice chasing for the first time (1.30pm). He won three bumpers and has run well in maiden hurdles without ever really getting involved.

He ran a better race the last day and wasn’t beaten all that far, so if he can bring that sort of performance into this he wouldn’t be without a chance.
