JONATHAN HOBBS Saturday: It’s semi-final time at Crayford on Saturday morning – and places in some major finals are up for grabs.

The Kent track hosts the semis of both the Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket and Peter Bussey Memorial Trophy and, for good measure, run the heats of the dual distance Chief Ramsbottom Hurdle and heats of the Ladbrokes.com Winter One-Lap Trophy.

And it’s a bang-on Saturday all-round with Monmore staging the heats of the Ladbrokes Winter Derby on Saturday night – with both morning and evening cards live on RPGTV/SportyStuff TV.

Let’s have a look at the Crayford picks.

Crayford Saturday

10.37: Theresa Dornan’s speedy Ragtime Billy catches the eye in the first open of the morning. It’s the heat of a Winter One-Lap Trophy and looks a match between Icaals Rocco and the Hove dog. With a middle move from Rocco, Billy could bolt to the front.

Play: Ragtime Billy

11.09: Ricky Holloway’s Puckane Daddy might be the answer to this 380m heat one of the Chief Ramsbottom. He won well over 540m latest but showed lots of speed and that might again see him get first run on kennelmates Roxholme Biscuit and Nomansland Flyer.

Play: Puckane Daddy

11.24: Dave Lee’s Endova Piper could make her rivals see red. It’s a rare chance from the inside for the local runner and, after a stakes win at Harlow and here over C&D, is certainly in good enough form to rack up a sixth win in 13 starts. Clearing Huntsman is key.

Play: Huntsman

11.39: The first Golden Jacket semi-final and a great match between the Derek Knight-trained Piercestown Dove and Burgess Bruno, with the former given a narrow vote over the local star. A clear run is needed but the Hove trainer knows how to win a Golden Jacket given five victories and this powerful sort will be tough to hold with a run.

Play: Piercestown Dove

11.54: Patrick Janssens’ Garryglass Abbie could soon take a grip on this Peter Bussey Memorial Trophy semi-final. The red-jacketed runner has lots of early speed and, if getting first run on Ballymac Honest and Gold Collar second Gymstar Elusive, might be away.

Play: Garryglass Abbie

12.09: Warzone Tom ran amok in the Golden Jacket heats and handled the step up to eight bends well. Liz McNair’s Gold Collar champion lines up with a chance to dominate in this second semi-final – and that will be required to beat the powerful Night Time Danny, who was fastest last week. Blueberry Bullet helps makes this a red-hot qualifier.

Play: Warzone Tom

12.24: Carol Weatherall’s Nipsey Hustle ran with credit in the heats of the Peter Bussey and can build on that in the semis. He has a chance to pace up handily here and a burst of all-round speed thereafter can seal the deal to beat defending champion Woodcocks Akia.

Play: Nipsey Hustle

12.39: John Mullins’ Burgess Elite could use his early dash to get first run on Newcastle raider Bellmore Sally in this third semi. The orange jacketed runner needs to trap better than last week’s heats but is a solid sort given the break and room to manoeuvre.

Play: Burgess Elite

Good luck all.
