PREVIEW

Blackpool and Hull City kick off the new Championship season with Ian Holloway’s Tangerines looking for a quick return to the top flight. It’s been a long old wait for competitive domestic action to return to our screens, but if these two club’s past meetings are anything to go by – we should have an entertaining opener.

The Tangerine’s thrill-a-minute effort in the Premier League eventually resulted in relegation on the final day of the season and they now face a tough time ahead without some of their key performers. One of those players is former captain Charlie Adam, who moved to Anfield in the summer. While David Vaughn, amongst others, has also moved on. Holloway has added to his squad over the break, but it may take a bit of time to get the starting XI up to full speed with the new faces.

Hull also have a few selection issues and will be without striker Aaron Mclean for the opener, so Nigel Pearson will likely pair Dele Adebola up top with Matty Fryatt. The Tigers got off to a slow start last term, before putting a decent run together after Christmas to eventually finish eleventh. Most of their decent results came on the road last year as the side struggled in front of their own fans.

These two last met in the 2007/08 Championship season and the most recent game finished in a 2-2 draw. There have been at least three goals in the past three meetings, at an average of 3.33 per game – so it would make sense to back over 2.5 goals at around 2.02 on Betdaq.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)

Back over 2.5 goals at 2.02: 5 points
Thursday’s Return: +1.54
