PREVIEW
Having suffered a surprise heavy defeat to Salford in their last league game, Warrington boss Tony Smith has already announced wholesale changes to his team for tonight’s clash against Catalan Dragons. The likes of Lee Briers, Garreth Carvell, Brett Hodgson and Ben Westwood all return to the starting line-up as Warrington seek to keep up the pressure on leaders Wigan, whom they currently trail by five points. As this is their game in hand the Wolves will be keen to put further distance between third-placed rivals St Helens and tonight’s fourth-placed opponents Catalan Dragons.

The Dragons arrive in Cheshire on the back of an impressive home win over Wakefield but are the underdogs. However, with two games in hand they know a triumph tonight, backed up with a win against Hull on Saturday, will see the French club leapfrog Warrington into second. Trent Robinson’s men have been boosted by the return of teenage winger Damien Cardace and centre Jean-Philippe Baile from injury. However Setaimata Sa, William Barthau, Thomas Bosc, Louis Anderson and Frédéric Vaccari all miss out.

In this fixture last year the Dragons held on for a tight 22-20 victory at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and then destroyed Warrington at home 44-16 earlier this year. In the Challenge Cup the Wolves gained a measure of revenge with a hard-fought 32-22 win and there is very little between the pair from a head-to-head perspective.

With that in mind there seems little reason why the Catalan Dragons are currently trading as big as 5.1 and that price definitely appeals to small stakes as a value bet.
