PREVIEW

Ian Holloway’s Blackpool will go second in the Championship table with a win tonight against Huddersfield that will keep the pressure on current league leaders Brighton.

Blackpool have only lost one of six league games so far this season and victories have included impressive 6-0 and 4-1 wins over Ipswich and Middlebrough respectively. On-loan striker Nathan Delfouneso has been in great form and is set to keep his place alongside recalled captain Barry Ferguson and left-back Stephen Crainey.

Huddersfield have adjusted to life in the Championship pretty well, following their promotion from League One and an away win later will see them shoot up the table into the play-off places. The Terriers are unbeaten in five and are pursuing three successive league wins, last achieved in mid-January.

Blackpool took their winning run in league and cup games against Huddersfield to four with a 1-0 home triumph in the first round of the League Cup in August 2007 and are favourites at around 1.76 on BETDAQ to continue that run. Overall Blackpool and Huddersfield have each won 26 of their 72 league meetings, spanning a century.

Only one of the last seven encounters between the sides has featured more than two goals, with four 1-0 scorelines in those games. Another narrow home win looks the most likely option as the Tangerines continue their push for automatic promotion and a return to the promised land of the Premier League.
