PREVIEW
Sheffield United will bid to continue their rich vein of form when they take on Portsmouth tonight at Bramall Lane. United are unbeaten in their last six league games, winning five, and, after suffering play-off final heartbreak on penalties last season, are firmly in the mix to go one better this year.

After a slow start, Pompey have started to play a bit better and have won three of their last five but have lost two of the other three. They travel north after a narrow defeat to high-flying Stevenage last week but will have to improve on that to trouble Danny Wilson’s men.

United are unbeaten in 22 home league meetings with Pompey, winning 18 and drawing four. The Blades are also unbeaten in their last 12 league games at home, winning half of those.

Portsmouth’s defence has kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 league games away from home but will hope their firepower up the other end will help them. Izale McLeod has six goals in his last six games in all competitions.

Pompey have also scored the most goals in the final 15 minutes of matches, nine, of any team in League One so United will be looking to put the game to bed early on.

Sometimes these Monday night games throw up a few surprises but it’s impossible to argue against Sheffield United taking all three points. Their home form at present is brilliant and, combine that with Portsmouth’s leaky back four and the hosts must be the call.
