Having missed out on qualification for Euro 2012, Wales face another long summer without competitive international football. It was a tough qualification for all involved with the national side, but Wales finished the group on a high.

Wales won their final two Group G games without conceding a goal against Switzerland and Bulgaria, respectively. The side carried their good form into their friendly with Norway as they hammered them 4-1. However, they suffered a setback at home to Costa Rica in an emotional game in memory of Gary Speed.

Next up for Wales are Mexico in New York and Chris Coleman will be looking for the side to bounce back from their last fixture. These two nations have never met before, but Wales will have their work cut out if they are to register a win against a talented Mexican outfit.

José Manuel de la Torre’s side also lost their previous game as Colombia handed them a 2-0 defeat. Before that El Tricolor beat Serbia and Venezuela, scoring five goals in the process. Javier Hernandez will be the main threat up top and he has a superb international scoring record. The Manchester United striker has bagged 23 goals in 34 matches and he’ll fancy his chances of adding to his tally.

It promises to be a tight game, but Mexico’s greater attacking options suggest they can return to winning ways. I’d recommend backing Mexico at around 1.52 on BETDAQ.
