This afternoon’s tie between English champions Manchester City, and three-time Premier League winners Arsenal, has the potential to be a thriller, with two of the league’s heavyweights putting their unbeaten starts to the campaign on the line at the Etihad Stadium.
Man City might have suffered European heartache on Tuesday, when Real Madrid fought back at the death to somehow emerge victorious at the Bernabeu, but you can be sure Roberto Mancini will not stand for his men feeling sorry for themselves today.
Arsenal’s quietly impressive start to the season continued with a 2-1 win away to tricky French champions Montpellier in midweek. Aside from Olivier Giroud, who appears to be lacking confidence, Arsene Wenger’s new signings are bedding in well and Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla have made a particularly impressive start to their Gunners career.
Five of the last six encounters between the pair have been extremely tight, low-scoring affairs and, despite the fact both teams have been among the goals this season, that could continue in what may well turn out to be another tight game.
