HEAD TO HEAD

(Max 10 only)
14 Feb 2013 Europa League, Zenit 2 – 0 Liverpool

PREVIEW
Liverpool’s disappointing season is likely to plunge to new lows tonight if they cannot reverse a 2-0 deficit from the first leg in their Europa League clash with Zenit St Petersburg at Anfield.

Having been ultimately well beaten in Russia last week, it looks like the Reds have a mountain to climb if they are to keep any slim hopes of silverware alive this season. Brendan Rodgers knows that if Zenit score, then his side will have to score at least four goals to go through.

And with Daniel Sturridge cup-tied and Fabio Borini now ruled out for the season through injury, the burden falls on Luis Suarez to fire the goals to take them through. History also tells us that Liverpool have only once overturned a two goal deficit to qualify from a European knockout stage (v Auxerre in the 1991/92 Uefa Cup) but they have won eight and drawn three of their last 12 European home games.

Zenit have scored only one goal in their last five away games in Europe combined, but are a tough team to break down and will be relishing the opportunity to knock out a team of Liverpool’s stature from Europe.

Liverpool always look short at odds-on considering their inconsistency and at 1.69 on BETDAQ they can be avoided. They may win but it will be another tight game and backing under 2.5 goals at around 2.17 on BETDAQ is advised.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back under 2.5 goals at around 2.17 on BETDAQ: 4 points

Wednesday: -4.00 points
FEBRUARY RETURN TO DATE: -15.52 points
