11 Sep 2007 World Cup 2007 Japan 2-2 England

PREVIEW

Group B’s two unbeaten sides clash this afternoon in Germany at the Women’s World Cup 2011 and if both remain without loss this evening then they will have confirmed their passage to the quarter-finals.

Japan have already reached the last-eight after victories over New Zealand (2-1) and Mexico (4-0) and they will finish top of the pool unless the Three Lions can claim three points.

England could yet qualify in defeat – they would need to avoid a five-goal swing in Mexico’s favour – but Hope Powell won’t want to leave anything to chance.

England are 3.55-shots and will find this anything but an easy assignment. The Japanese are ranked fourth by FIFA – their highest ever position – six places above England, and are rightly favourites for this contest at 2.3 on the exchange.

However, considering a stalemate would be agreeable to both teams, the draw looks the best option at 3.25 on the Daq.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back the draw at around 3.25: 3 points

Monday’s Return: +5 points
