PREVIEW
According to Jose Mourinho, âthe world will stop to watchâ tonightâs last 16 second leg clash between Manchester United and Real Madrid at Old Trafford. With the tie delicately poised at 1-1 after the first leg two weeks ago, the first goal will be massive.
Danny Welbeckâs away goal may prove crucial but itâs hard to envisage Madrid not getting on the scoresheet â they have only once failed to net in their last 32 Champions League games, back against Barcelona in April 2011. The Whites couldnât have warmed up for this huge tie in better fashion than back-to-back wins over bitter rivals Barca. The latest victory on Sunday was achieved with a greatly weakened side meaning the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil and Karim Benzema will be fresh â a frightening thought.
But United havenât lost a game since December 5th and the Red Devils have only suffered defeat once in their last 14 Champions League home games with nine wins and four draws. The only defeat in that time came against CFR Cluj in a meaningless group stage game this season.
And Real Madrid have only won once in their last five away games in England in the Champions League, against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in April 2011. Theyâve also failed to keep a clean sheet in the competition this season.
Sir Alex Fergusonâs has instilled a confidence and composure in this side and itâs a surprise to see them underdogs at 3.5 on BETDAQ. However, the best bet might be to take Fergieâs charges to score first at around 2.05. They scored first in Spain and have only conceded two goals in their last six matches.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Man United to score first at around 2.05 on BETDAQ: 4 points
Monday: +5.20 points
MARCH RETURN TO DATE: +2.52 points
