PREVIEW

England take on India at Old Trafford in the only Twenty20 game of the tour looking to continue their fine summer form.
The tourists have struggled with England’s bowling attack throughout the Test series and the lively Manchester pitch may cause yet more problems for their batting line-up.

England have only met India once before in T20 here on English soil and they just scraped home by three runs two years ago at Lord’s. This time Stuart Broad will captain a young side including Jos Buttler and Alex Hales, who both have a golden opportunity to show their worth at international level.

The only other T20 meeting between these two sides was in South Africa four years ago and India won by 18 runs. A slight concern for England supporters is that the team have actually lost their last two T20 matches since lifting the world title.

India will certainly fancy their chances in the shorter format of the game, where their inadequacies with the ball may have less of an impact. In March they claimed the ODI World Cup and they set themselves up perfectly for this one-off match by beating the newly-crowned domestic T20 champions Leicestershire on Monday.

England will be looking for another strong performance from Eoin Morgan, who has been one of the star performers at this level. Morgan also played well in the ODI against his home nation last weekend and scored 59 runs. Andy Flower’s team remain the T20 world champions and India’s form on this tour cannot be ignored, so I would recommend backing another England tour win at 1.72 on the ‘Daq’.
