PREVIEW
Manchester City are under pressure tonight when they visit the Netherlands to face Ajax, as anything other than three points and they will face a real battle to qualify from Group D, particularly if Borussia Dortmund can get a result against Real Madrid this evening.

Manchester City allowed their opponents more shots on target against them than any other team in the Champions League (22) after their first two matches and Roberto Mancini has struggled to find his best 11 in Europe – all three goals the Citizens have scored have been netted by substitutes.

Ajax’s victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in last season’s Europa League ended a run of eight games in Europe against English opposition without a win, but they are winless in four at home, losing three.

City have lost four and won one of their five away games in the European Cup/Champions League but Ajax are in poor form, with only two wins in their last seven games, and have also failed to score in eight of their last 12 matches in European competition.

After getting out of jail late on via a Edin Dzeko double on the weekend versus West Brom, Mancini will have his men well drilled for tonight’s game and, although their away record in the competition is disappointing, they’ve had some tough games and they should find this easier.
