PREVIEW
The controversy from Sunday’s league clash between Chelsea and Manchester United rumbles on but the Blues have a chance to get some quick revenge for that 3-2 defeat – United’s first in the league at Stamford Bridge for ten years – when they host them again tonight in the Capital One Cup.

Sunday’s game was full of drama with two red cards brandished to Chelsea players, an offside winner for the Red Devils’ Javier Hernandez, crowd trouble and then post-match allegations of racism against referee Mark Clattenburg.

We should therefore, expect another fiery encounter later but Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to be more concerned with Saturday’s big league game versus Arsenal and will probably field a weakened team.

United have won five of their last six matches against Chelsea and Javier Hernandez has five goals in eight appearances playing Roberto Di Matteo’s side. Wayne Rooney is another with a good scoring record against Chelsea, with five goals in his last six appearances in all competitions.

However, Ferguson’s side have lost eight and won just three of their last 13 League Cup matches against top flight opponents on the road.

The last three meetings between the sides have been full of goals and, with both managers likely to give youth a chance, there should be plenty of opportunities for goals, especially if last night’s incredible 7-5 game between Reading and Arsenal is anything to go by.
