Premier League champions Manchester City head to the DW Stadium tonight hoping to maintain an excellent record recent against Wigan. The Citizens have won the last five encounters without conceding a goal.
City need a victory to keep up the pressure on table toppers Manchester United, who are in action against West Ham tonight. Roberto Mancini’s men were involved in a dour 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and, although defensively solid, they looked blunt up front.
It would not be a surprise to see Mancini bring in the likes of Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez – who has scored four goals in five league games against Wigan -with two upcoming games in quick succession.
The Latics come into the game off the back of an enthralling 3-2 victory over Reading last weekend, with Jordi Gomez grabbing all three of their goals. Despite the fact that their squad is injury-hit, Wigan have the ability and passion under Roberto Martinez to trouble the visitors.
They should definitely be able to find the net and it should be a lively encounter. Backing City at short odds makes little appeal and the handicap markets just about have it spot on, so backing over 2.5 goals at around 1.7 on BETDAQ looks the best option to secure a profit.
