Men’s Final
C. Alcaraz (ESP) 1 v N. Djokovic (SRB) 2
2pm Centre Court

Firstly just wrapping up the Women’s Final yesterday a nice profit on the column of 6.68 points on the final thanks to Vondrousova’s win but a loss of 8 points on the outright market so we finished with a loss of 1.32 points.

Arguably not too bad given it was a hard final to predict and it was just a shame that it ended up being so one-sided with Jabeur’s challenge running out of steam at the most crucial part of the tournament. It would be amazing to see her win a Slam but equally you’d surely have to say she won’t get many easier chances than that?

On now to the Men’s which very much is the final than most people COULD have expected. Number 1 plays Number 2 so the seeding can’t work out any better than that !

My BETDAQ bets are looking a little better here too. We collected 5.11 points profit from Djokovic’s semi-final straight sets win against Sinner, lost 3 points on the Alcaraz semi-final and a Djokovic win would give a net profit of 3.4 points from the ante-post selections.

So I could settle back, watch Djokovic win and collect 4.19 points across both the Men’s and Women’s tournaments at Wimbledon 2023.

But will it be as simple as that ….. it seldom is !!

Alcaraz continues to impress and if his first service continues to be so effective then even Djokovic will have trouble in dealing with it.

The head to head stats don’t help us too much. This will be their third encounter and the score is 1-1 – both matches were on clay. Arguably the most recent meeting is the most significant given it also came at a Slam – the French Open this year where Djokovic won in four sets – completely dominating the last two 6-1 6-1.

Ordinarily you’d point to the 16 year age gap being a factor but the way Djokovic is continuing to play, not to mention his immense experience more than counters that. If anything it’s how Alcaraz’s game will shake up in his high profile first Wimbledon final.

Djokovic said: “Judging by the performances we have seen from all the players, I think this is probably the best finals we could have.

“We are both in good form. We’re both playing well.

“This is probably the most anticipated finals I guess from the beginning of the tournament, from most of the people.”

Given the position of the book I don’t particularly want to fall behind so am looking for another Djokovic win but will also throw in two ‘insurance’ bets on Alcaraz winning 3:1 and 3:2 at 8.3 and 8.2 respectively.

RECOMMENDED BET
1.5 points win ALCARAZ 3:1 to win at around 8.3
1.5 points win ALCARAZ 3:2 to win at around 8.2
